Not to mention that Bilbao has one of the greatest art museums in the world, The Guggenheim. Wellllll. I would suggest that the Guggenheim is definitely one of the greatest buildings in the world. It is really worth seeing for the architecture alone. But as for one of the greatest museums I think i...

Flickinger won't ship to NJ... I can't stand these weird wine laws. Heck, there are places in NYC that will ship to NJ and some that claim it's illegal! Sherry-Lehmann and PJ Wines will but Astor Wines sez illegal. Do they really think places like S-L would risk their business to ship to NJ when it'...

Niepoort 92 is in the Cellar Tracker, you're just spelling it with an "R" that doesn't belong... There's also an entry for the 92 Passadouro but its not listed as a fortified wine so double check. This being said, maybe I'm only seeing them now because you entered them :-)

Port sale

Is it just me, or is all this talk in the news about the "New York Port Sale" very, very disappointing?

Port wine clubs?

Hi Folks, I know there was a thread on here a while ago talking about importing some lesser known ports but I am interested to find out if there are any existing wine clubs (wine of the month style) that specializes in Ports, or even Portuguese (and Spanish) wines in general. Haven't had much luck g...

That's an interesting list because it represents none of the major exporters. Outside of the Niepoort 20 tawny I don't think any of those are available in the US, are they? We'll all have to go to Gustavo's restaurant in Porto and try them out...

There's a place in NYC called "Alfama", in the West Village. I haven't been there yet but it's on my to-do list. Their port list seems extensive!

Sparrow Wine/NJ 20% half case sale

Porters, Thought I'd mention a local shop, sparrowine.com, which is having a 20% off a mixed half-case sale. I took advantage of it myself and picked up the 2000 Niepoort, a 1992 Warre Colheita, and a 1970 Graham. Their web site lists a lot more to choose from... No affilliation just a satisfied cus...

It sounds like for this to work the end recipients of the tasting bottles, be it Roy or someone else who hosts a group tasting, or individuals like us, would need to sign some sort of non disclosure agreement that included a provision that the bottles will under no circumstances be resold or auction...

Speaking for myself, I am a real Port neophyte. I can count the number of vintage ports I have tasted on one hand and my sensory tasting ability (i..e to identify all the various flavors) is really poor (this goes for all wine not just Port. It's hard for me to identify flavors.) I come here to lear...

I have a book I haven't seen mentioned here: "A Wine Lover's Guide to Port: the Inside Story of a Unique Fortified Wine" by Joao Paulo Martins (text in English ISBN 9722017810). No tasting notes-- just a history of the Port trade and how Port is made. I picked it up some place in Porto, ma...

Hello Roy, Thanks for putting together this offer. I am pretty new to the vintage port world, not usually buying it to keep at home, for three reasons really; the bottle needs to be consumed quickly, vintage ports are pricey, and I don't have any truly mature ports in my "cellar". So this ...
