Santa Eufêmia Very Old Reserve White (best ever white ?)
This is really a secret wine. I hope not too many reads this TN. One of my all time favorite port wines, and it`s a white one. It is very complex and so integrated everything. The color is light to dark brown, you know the point where red wines and aged white wines has the same color. Amazing stuff....

TN João Pato Touriga Nacional 2007, Beiras
Grapes: 85% TOURIGA NACIONAL, 15% BAGA Color: dark red, violet, good depth. Nose: Exiting nose, I am using a Riedel Bordeaux Grand Cru glass, because the Riedel Chianti/Zinfandel glass was to small to give this wine the complex picture it has. Mature dark berries like black cherry and black plum, an...

Re: NV Noval 40-yr old Tawny
Members. I tried the 40 years old in 2002 while visiting Noval, an amazing wine, and yes I remeber the little redish golden copperlike color, a quite vibrant wine, full of life and energy, awsome complexity too. Great longlasting acidity. Unusual for me with my references, the youthness in this old ...

Roy. Thanks for your kind words, I am sure I am not worthy......... :) The :ftlop: is by far the best site for port on Tellus. I will try to be here as much as I can. The knowledge of the members is awsome, so I always learn a lot. I quote myself: "the more you know about wine, the more you rea...

Re: 2003 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port
Frederick. I totaly agree. :) I am of course guessing when I say the LBV will make 20 years, but I at least think it will be better and more in balance in lets say 5 years from now. Difficult to match with food, if it isnt a powerful and fat dish with game. Reindeer and a creamed sauce would be perf...

Re: 2003 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port
Erik. I am having the LBV 2003 right now. It has quite a lot of tannins, and I think it will develope nice for many years to come. I did not taste the Vintage 2003, but usually they have a much tougher structure than the LBVs. I think the Noval LBV will last for many years, I have actualy suggested ...

2000 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port
Quite perfumed aromas of cherry, violets and tea.
Very fruity and intens, great structure and freshness. Quite elegant.
As this is the same producer as for Gould-Campbell it has some of the same picture.
The wine is closed and needs 10-30 years.

Re: #12 What is your favorite vintage of Smith Woodhouse VP?
I just had the VP 2000, and I think it has great potential, closed down now, but it has a very good balance. I think it will be a quite elegant wine in 20-30 years.

Re: What do you think about waxed bottles?
I think the wax makes a big mess, has to be opened over the kitchen sink. Its everywhere after in a meters radius. I guess its good for preserving the wine, letting no air in or out of the bottle. Why dont they just use softer wax like on the Tokaji bottles, much easier to handle?

TN Barbeito Verdelho 1929, Madeira
As you may know the Madeira wines have a potential to age for many years some maybe for 200 or more. This wine is made from the Verdelho grape which means traditionally that the wine is dry or medium dry. This wine has some sweetness, but the aging provides us with a lot of different dried fruits an...
