Re: Your Port collection & maturation dynamics

I have been buying alot more port recently, as I have finally decided on a drinking plan. My aim is to have enough bottles to be able to drink 1 a month from the age of 30 to 80. Thats 600 bottles, so far I am 1/6 of the way there. So far i've averaged the purchase of 1 case every 4 months. I haven'...

Re: Offering: 2004 Taylor's Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha

It says in the article that the declared VV in 1997. Shouldn't this be 1995? I know this probably isn't the place to discuss this, but do you think the VV will one day be as great as NN? My limited knowledge of port puts me in a weak place to answer this but comments would be appreciated.

Croft Quinta da Roeda Vintages

Dear all,

I was wondering if anybody had a complete list of the Croft Quinta da Roeda Vintages? I can only find 2005,1997,1995,1987,1983,1978 and 1967. Does anybody have know of any to look out for or avoid? I'm try to collect a few bottles of each of them.

Thanks

2002 Dows Crusted Port -- Bottled in 2002

First tasting note and first crusted port: Purchased for £10.99 from a local wine shop. Appears to be the lowest price in the UK according to winesearcher. First crusted port so not sure what to expect. Cork came out cleanly, stated 'crusted port 2002', no mention of Dows on the cork. Smell: I smelt...

J.W.Hart ports

Dear all, On a recent trip to Paris I acquired a bottle of 1994 J.W.Hart from a small shop in the 7th district for 30euros. My french is rather poor so I did/could not ask more about the vineyards etc. Does anybody know anything about the shipper? I have not opened the port yet so I cannot provide a...

Re: Beginner looking for advice

Dear all, Firstly, thankyou for your interest. My collection is slowly growing. I bought back a Sao Pedros 2000VP and a few other LBV's etc from Porto. I've purchased a bottle of 2000VP Croft and 6 bottles of Morgans 1991VP. Unfortunately, i've not managed to purchase any Niepoort 2000. Funds are ru...

A beginners trip to Porto

Dear all, I've just returned from my first trip to Porto and Villa Nova de Gaia. It was a fantastic experience and I learned alot from the visit. I visited the lodges of Croft, Taylors, Grahams and Sandeman and paid a brief visit to the tasting centre of Quinta do Noval. For those who only have time...

Close to Braintree, so the Suffolk/Essex border really. What auctions do you visit? I really only know of the London based ones.

Re: Croft 2000 VP

I'm usually based in Suffolk, not that far from London. But on this incidence I was near Oxford. I'm intrigued as to where you source these wines from.

Re: Croft 2000 VP

It was £35. The 1994 Croft was £42 but I wanted something that I would enjoy keeping for a few years, rather than something that would have to be drunk sooner.

Croft 2000 VP

Dear all, I've seen this bottle at a special offer in a local wine shop. It seems cheaper to buy this here than from various places on winesearcher. What do you all think of it? I've read conflicting reviews on the internet so i'm not to sure what to make of it. I might just purchase it and taste it...

Re: Beginner looking for advice

Thank you for such a warm welcome. I've just passed my second year exams and i'm thinking of buying a bottle of port. Something to remind me of passing them in 50 years time or so. I'm not sure what to purchase and I don't really want to spend over £40. I've spotted a bottle of Niepoort 2000 VP for ...

Beginner looking for advice

Good evening, I stumbled across your forum some time ago and have been a keen follower since. I've only just become a member though. I'm at university in the UK; and whilst I am keen on drinking port, i'm finding it hard to establish a cellar/collection, something that I am most eager to begin. I ha...
