Re: 1st Annual FTLOP Gala Port Celebration
Uhh...pardon my dumb question, but which weekend IS it? Based on the survey results, it looks like the last weekend in January - is that the one? Ok, next dumb question: is there a list of hotels already or am I reading too much into the posts I've browsed? Third (non) question: I decanted a 1994 Fo...

Re: Port tasting: An introduction to port for us inexperienced
Andy, Thanks for your suggestions; for what it's worth, your 2 cents buy a lot! I haven't settled on the wines and Ports yet; I'm still in the planning stage, but based on what I'm interested in and what I've been reading here (I'm halfway through the 18 pages of Port Basics Forum topics!), I do wan...

Re: Port tasting: An introduction to port for us inexperienced
Morten, Thanks for sharing your plans leading up to and then the results of your experience. I have a similar situation in that I'm trying to plan a couple of port tastings. My buddy Julian (haha; I just met him at Fall Harvest Tour, but we shared a wacky sensibility) explained how he arranges his a...

Since the Fall Harvest Tour 2008 stomped grapes at Quinta do Crasto, we need to get our dibs on their 2008 wines...!

Re: Other wine besides Port ...
Not sure of a favorite producer, but for style, my preference is Cotes du Rhone. I like the "symphony" of a blend and for "first chair" (beating the metaphor into the ground a little more), my favorite grape is syrah...!

Re: Port or Madeira with your Turkey this year?
Wow, until recently I would never have considered such a concept and I do consider myself a bit of a "foodie". For many years I've been a bit of a Beujelais Nouveau fan with turkey, but considering some of the various tastes present, I can actually see enjoying a nice vintage with the main...

Roy,
Thanks for the welcome and for all the knowledge you shared on the trip. I feel like I did learn a ton and know I have so much more to learn, but that's the fun part!
Cheers,
Rich N.

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
Rich, Hope you have recovered from the trip? I just got home and its time to lose some weight I put on during it  Andy, I don't know if "recovered" is quite the right word - more like dealing with being spoiled by good food and great wine! The good thing (for me) on this trip was tha...

Re: IVDP Port Glasses
Roy,
I'm not sure if you ever finalized on the IVDP Port Glasses, but I'm in the market for a "bunch" of Port Glasses - at least 50. Let me know.
Thanks,
Rich N.

Re: Who is currently putting Ports away for their children?
I first heard this idea from Stewart on the Fall Harvest Tour 2008 and I think it's a fantastic idea - I am now planning on doing so for each of my children (1995 and 2003 "vintages"). Any help in assembling a potential list is greatly appreciated!

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
My name is Rich Nigro and I'm a long time aficionado of port, but light on knowledge. To alleviate that, I recently attended the Fall Harvest Tour and it was everything I had hoped it would be, plus some! The biggest eye-opener for me was the increasing quality (and emphasis) on Douro wines. I live ...
