Re: The 1987 vintage ... why wasn't it declared?
That makes sense Tom if the single Quinta's started beating the generally declared years in quality it would make the pricing a nonsense although in some cases they do.

Re: What is the BEST vintage for Port in the past 15 years?
I voted 2000 as it's the only vintage I have tasted from those years, a spare bottle of Gould Campbell in 2004 it was good full of tannins from a third tier producer tasted in 2004.(apart from the Cockburns vertical)

Can we finish with the pink port now which is in my opinion poor
but no less than other wines on the market in the rose mould.

Re: Which Madeira is sitting in your "death row" queue?
Roy I'm no expert but the few I've had have been poor I have bought them for birthdays because port is a rarity in some years. I've had one good one which alludes me but I'm in no hurry to open the old one if I find I don't like madeira I'll pass it on to someone who does

Re: Vertically Speaking - historic Cockburn's Tasting & Dinner
This was great fun I met and hopefully made good friends Roy who I've never met before made some good comments not always what a shipper wants to hear, but that in my mind is unimportant the port and the company was great in fact the company outstripped the port .As my wife said she is not a fan of C...

TN: 1940 Borges Sercial Vintage Madeira
This was much better than the VJH 40 sercial I've had before.Sweeter than I expected for a Sercial not much rasping acidic.A nice golden amber with a cidery finish. From what madeiras I've had this was pretty good low priced stuff.
