My wife prefers sweet wine to port which I am not that fond of but she loves it when I open a bottle of her birth year which produced some good port.

I have six mostly the older ones because to my shame I have not been following recent vintages and the 2000's were my last buy.

In general Taylors for ports over 70 years Fonseca for less sweeping statement though.I find Fonseca are subtle and refined which does not make a great Tawny after they are passed their best.

I would have to ask pops it was late 70's I was in my teens I know it was a 55 but I don't know which one it was'nt Grahams or Taylors Probably Dow's or Warre's.He still keeps some of the bottles and puts beeswax candles in them for special dinners. They now look like props from a horror movie.

I've had a few Burmester vintage ports but the 85 is the best one I've had.One to look out for that is quite cheap to buy is the 89 vintage. They do however make very good colheitas.

Crusted Port

I opened a bottle of Yates Brothers Wine lodges crusted port bottled 1986 not great but the strange thing was that it was UK bottled as stated on the label. No ivdp label and the bottle definately looks english.I wonder where they sourced this from.
