At this time I think the 85's are better but saying that there are a couple of 83's which I think will become as good or better than the best 85's in time. But across the board 85's have it.

a,Was £140 pounds on a 39 real cavelha vintage just could not find one Stefano sourced it for me about five years ago.
b.Probably £250 I could afford to lose that and not cry to much if the bottle was spoilt.

I agree with Roy and Marc,I was purely a vp man but how can that be when you drink very old vp which are very close to colheitas which are often better value age for age.

Multi: NV Sogrado vintage style Port & 1979 Porto Pocas LBV Por

The sogrado and pocas were bought in a lot that were all bought mid eighties. The sogrado had quite a bit of sediment looked pale and tasted like an off vintage port light in character but with smokiness of age not a lot going for it but still nice. The Pocas Junior bottled in 84 was more like a colhe...

1991 Morgan Vintage Port

I've just had a bottle this weekend and what a bargain port well done Tom.A great price and thanks Tom for the special packaging it brought a smile to my face. This was much better than I anticipated quite a fine sediment but I use unbleached teabag paper I have on a roll that does the trick.( from a...

I've had several bottles of this over a ten year period and I'm fairly sure that this is quite poor for a Taylors port.I may have had poor bottles but they have been from different sources.

Which port that you've had has surprised you in the lastyear

For me it was the 64 Guimarens beautiful and value. Then 67 Noval both a great surprise. These can be quite hard to get a hold of now but keep an eye out for them. The 64 is just great and will keep on the plateau for some time.

1967 Quarles Harris Colheita Port

This was etheral at first but calmed down after four hours.A cuvee bottled in 82 These and colheitas are not my favourite but maybe I have not had as many good ones.I prefer vintage ports that have turned tawny with age.although I have had some 100 years plus which were good and a safer bet for buyi...

Multi: 1983 Dow's, 1978 Quinta do Noval, 1985 Martinez Vintage Port

The dow's I've had a couple of times this year and I think their is more to come from this wine although it is still very pleasent to drink now.The Noval 78 is a lot better than their 75 but still a bit on the weak in body and fruit on it's way out I prefer the Vargellas for this year. The Martinez w...

Multi: 1962 Offley Vintage Port & 1975 Noval Vintage Port

I bought 6 bottles of this 62 wine 3 from one source and three from a merchant.I have had two bottles from the merchant and Tom has the other. The second bottle was nowhere near as sweet as the first but still easily a portuguese style port.I tasted this alongside a bottle of Adams wine merchant 63 v...

Vintage wise a Messias 85 (could have been a bad bottle but I doubt it)closely followed by a Cruz 89.Then maybe a Krohns 85 Colheita.Ronnieroots gave me a slating for thinking the Krohns 91 vintage was ok but I'll have another go at that one because I'd had quite a few glasses of wine before I crack...
