I would have voted for you on your "More Port" platform, but I think I'll stick with Colorado.

I tried a Roxo once and it wasn't for me. To each his own. But I'd still try it again too.

Re: Fraudulent Portuguese Wine Seized East of Porto

Yes, the article is rather limited, and the word "Fraudulent" is kind of a stretch from what is conveyed in the text.

1985 Martinez VP. Slightly to moderately corked, but still drinkable... There is the plastic wrap trick, although I'm not sure if you can find PVC plastic wrap any more. Saran Wrap changed their formulation a while back, and most of the other stuff is just PE these days. https://www.winespectator.c...

Phew--I just checked my inventory and I have a bunch of 2007 Noval Silval. I've pulled one to check on in the near future.

I decanted this for 6 hours. 8 would have been better as it improved as the evening progressed, IMHO.

I would have liked to have seen a few other opinions expressed in the article ... Well, not the article, but I'll give you mine: A new/revitalized Casa do Douro is not the solution Requiring aguardente to come from Portuguese grapes is silly. Quality is important, but the source is not critical for...

Re: Regret not pulling the trigger?

By the time of the buying op, the 60yo was bottled in 750ml 40yo bottles with a round "60" sticker placed over the 40. And the 100yo was in the now ubiquitous 500ml bottle that comes in the cork box, and IIRC it cost 750 EUR while the "60" cost 100 EUR. I couldn't remember the e...

Re: What have you opened this week?

I thought it was good but not great. Sounds like I enjoyed it slightly more than you did, but we're in general agreement. And for me, the RP was the 3rd best of the vintage ... I'll post a tasting note soon, but I very much liked the 1964 RP, as a tawny Port . Sure, if you asked, "How is this ...

Re: 1937 Hooper Colheita - Question about old bottlings

The link now shows a price realized of $240. Perhaps that is $200 plus a 20% buyers premium?

I could understand someone buying it for the novelty. I also would be willing to bet $240 spent elsewhere will yield a more enjoyable Port (or two ...).

And to be different from Glenn (which I often am), I scored both halves of the magnum at 92 points, and the 750 at 96+. TNs to follow.
