Kopke 50 Year Old Tawny

(Bottled 2023) The first thing I notice in the aroma is some spirit warmth, followed by a hint of mustiness, then wood and sawdust. There are lots of sugar flavors making for a nice drink, but not quite as good as the 1967 colheita on this day. 95 points. (18 May 24)

Kopke 40 Year Old Tawny

(Bottled 2023) Thicker concentrated sugar aromas than the prior tasted 1967 colheita, with a little cooked stewed fruit. There are also aromas of dried leaf and leather. The body is medium-light, with lots of good flavor. The aroma later showed some maple syrup, but this was subtle. The flavor impro...

1967 Kopke Colheita

(Bottled 2024.) Sweet aroma with some fruit. Spirited as well, along with some pleasant wood cellar character. There is lots of warmth, but it integrates well make for a wonderful drink. There are flavors of sugar, brown sugar, and butter. The core escapes further characterization, but I really like...

Kopke 50 Year Old White Port

(Bottled 2023.) There is more sugar in the aroma than the previously tasted wines, white 30 year old, 2005, and 2008. It also smells like fig and wood, perhaps sandalwood. There is some light, pleasant spirit as well. The flavor is very pleasant and smooth, but it isn’t as concentrated in flavor as ...

Kopke 30 Year Old White Port

(Bottled 2024.) There is light spiciness in the aroma, with true cinnamon, light grass, and dried malt. This is more concentrated than the prior tasted white colheitas (2005 and 2008). The flavor is also spicy, like the aroma, along with a bit of buttercream frosting. 90-91 points. (18 May 24)

(Bottled 2023) There is a light floral aroma with a little bit of apricot, invert sugar, and treacle. The flavor presents assertive freshness with lemon and tangerine, and then candied citrus flavor. 90 points. (18 May 24)

2007 Kopke White Colheita

(Bottled 2024.) Smells of honey, Honeycomb cereal, flowers, marigold; and a little spirit mixes in to suggest perfume. Tastes include tropical fruit, like pineapple, and then something perhaps like guava or papaya. This is thicker bodied for a white colheita—medium. Also tastes like sultana with lig...

2021 Kopke Quinta São Luiz Vintage Port

Cask sample. Presents very young and powerful aromas of grape stem, eucalyptus, esteva, grape, and mulberry. The flavors are powerful as well, with jammy raspberry and blackberry. Medium bodied, this has plenty of tannins; but they are not overpowering. The finish is medium-long with the tannins and...

1990 Graham’s Malvedos Centenary

Wonderful flavor, but the aroma had a chemical element like 4-vinyl guaiacol that was bordering on unpleasant. Not scored. (3 Dec 23)

Indeed!
Those were some of my favorites from the Glenn Anniversary Trip. I might have bought some others that were excellent except I managed to snag some in other recent group purchases. Oh, and I picked up some Murganiera, but that's not Port.

1966 Dalva Colheita

Smells musty and woody, with cinnamon and spice. Faint burnt sugar. Lots of fun sugar complexity and flavors with plenty of acid too. This is surprisingly good. Medium bodied. This is both fresh and musty at the same time. Lemon drop syrup mixed with caramel and brown sugar. 93 points. (16 May 24)

This was from an old bottle, ~40 years old, on a dispenser system at Garrafeira Nacional, Porto. Smells musty and burnt, along with aromas of solvent and furniture polish. Then it smelt a bit like leather, recently cleaned, along with some lemon as well. Tastes better than it smells, but also odd. L...

Quinta do Bom Dia 40 Year Old Tawny

Like the previously tasted 30 year old tawny, this one also smells a little musty, along with a little cleaning chemical aroma. Then there is brown sugar and brûlée. Lots of acidity, and good sugars combine to make for a nice wine. 92 points. (18 May 24)

(Bottled 11/2023.) Smell musty, dusty, and earthy. Nice acidity, lots of sugar, brown sugar, along with some fruit flavors. There is lemon, apple butter, and the tannic pucker tastes like it comes from apples as well. 91 points. (18 May 24)

(Bottled 4/2024.) Aromas of cinnamon, sugar, and caramel, followed by woody cellar, mahogany, and fruit candy. Medium light body with wood flavors, reasonable acidity, and medium sugar. Nice, but not overly complex. 89 points. (18 May 24)

Dalva 50 Year Old Tawny

(Bottled 2023.) This has different sugar aromas than the previously tasted wine (Viera de Sousa 50), with butter, lime, and key lime pie crust. Then I noted some herbs like tarragon or marjoram. A really great tasting port with a nice body and finish. 96+ points. (17 May 24)

(Bottled 2023.) Aromas of spicy caramel, brown sugar, crème brûlee, and alcohol warmth. Then I noticed leather and mahogany. Tasting, I find lemon acidity, lots of sugar, and lots of acidity. This is thicker than the Dalva 50. I didn’t note a score, but my recollection is that it was in the 94-96 po...

Tasted blind. Smells of wood and figs, with black walnut. Smoky, thick, and with medium sweetness, I’m guessing that this is a Madeira. It has Bual level sweetness, but isn’t overly acidic. Pleasant overall. (17 May 24)

(Bottled 2018) Tasted blind. Swirling gives chemicals in the aroma for this wine as were found in the previously tasted one (1996 Krohn Colheita). There are alcohol spirits as well, and then some sugars show up. With some time, the aroma develops, with sugars and cinnamon. At first the body seems me...
