Well we opened it and it was still airtight as I heard the air rushing in as the cork came out (in two pieces!). And the cork hadn't dried out. What a relief. We really enjoyed it although it's the first vintage port I've had before so I have nothing to compare it to. I expected it to taste "ol...

Thanks for all your advice. Sounds like it's not the end of the world. We are going to open it at the weekend, so fingers crossed.

My boyfriend was bought a bottle of 1977 Grahams Port about a year ago. We have never had vintage port before and so have stored it in a cupboard in the dark, but stood up and in the kitchen (about 20oC).

Is it likely it has been ruined?
