Re: The definitive book on Vintage Port is now on sale

I may be one of the most distant purchasers, and my copy made it all the way to Dunedin in New Zealand this morning (about 20.00 Friday evening GMT). As many others have already mentioned, the packaging was fairly flimsy and completely open at both ends, but the book has come through safely and unda...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

Picked up a couple of 1960 VP's in England which I will take back home. Quinta do Noval and Croft, with an extra Noval for a friend who is another '60 boy.

Cheers...Mark

Re: 2015 Vintage Declarations

I was reading the Decanter.com article about the Cockburns declaration just before and the writer had noted 3,500 cases (6 x 750ml), which is at odds with the photo above. Perhaps they assumed six bottle cases rather than twelve bottle cases?

1970 Grahams Vintage Port 1970 Dows Vintage Port Purchased in England and with my wife visiting there currently, she will bring them home for me. I'm planning a port tasting for a few friends and these two will make up the final flight alongside the 1970 Fonseca which I already have. Still tossing u...

Re: Quinta do Noval 1995 vintage port question

Just noticed this post. I co-incidentally opened my only bottle of '95 Quinta do Noval on Monday. A nice VP but not one hitting the heights and it seemed fully mature to me. Lovely, mellow drinking.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

I don't believe any of the 2011 Cockburns VP has come into New Zealand and I had thought of picking up a bottle or two in England. Was over in Melbourne, Australia on a family trip and discovered some there so managed to squeeze one bottle into my already stuffed bag. A$99.99 but as I was able to ad...

Re: 2014: The BEST Port(s) you have consumed this year?

I don't normally drink a lot of tawnies/colheitas; in fact very rarely at all but have been exposed to several this year after three friends journeyed to Pinhao and then Porto in the midst of a larger European trip. Several friends met up in the Southern Rhone for a significant birthday of one of th...

Re: Best places to buy in England?

Ted, I would have a good trawl through Wine Searcher. You can isolate your search to the UK, though if you don't pay for Wine Searcher Pro you won't get all potential results. I have found it incredibly useful when I have been hunting for specific wines in the UK.

2 btls of 2011 Quinta da Romaneira VP; a label which I hadn't seen in my country before.
Hoping for good things given that Noval are making the wine and the reviews do look positive.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

Not quite this week but very recently picked up a couple of bottles of the 2011 Quinta do Vesuvio VP.
The retailer must have gotten me in a weak moment as I couldn't resist buying a magnum of the same wine.

Re: Kopke Colheita Ports

Thanks for the responses which give me some food for thought. It sounds like I'm going to to be onto a pretty safe bet, whichever year I choose. The white ports are something I've never dabbled in Daniel other than current release wines. I have read of the Dalva wines so I'll just have to see if I h...
