Re: 1955 Royal Oporto VP

Hey Eric, please raise a toast to another 1955 (my birth year!!!) I am now officially a senior citizen! We had 7 bottles of 1955 vintage wine for my Jan 1 birthday dinner. All in at least as good condition as I am (that is a good sign!)

I vote with Alan, flights by grape (or at least style - dry-sweet). within that not sure oldest to youngest or vice versa

and D - Blind by flight with discussion after each flight - gives us a break to discuss while a flight is still fresh in our minds/palates

Reider,
You are most welcome to visit Canada any time (though I expect you would prefer the warmer climes for your vacations).
I don't have your cellar but happy to share what I have if you want to come and visit! [cheers.gif]

No Roy but maybe you should add one. But then there is the Spanish-Portiguese rivalry.
Dirk Niepoort is working with the Equipo Navazos group so there is precedence. :)

Re: What's Your Favorite Madeira Wine Glass?

I agree, the chimmney glasses are thick rimmed - Riedel wins on that count. Didn't ask Luis D'Oliviera if he could tell me why the chimmney shapes were used in the tasting room at his place - they did have standard ISO style glasses as well. Re: What's Your Favorite Madeira Wine Glass?

I previously used Riedel port glasses but when we were on the island last fall for the first time had a great tasting at D'Oliveira and they used glasses which are chimney shaped. For sentimental reasons I bought a dozen and use them now. Not sure they are the best shape but are cool.
