Now that I'm single AND dating...the ladies 'dig' the chance to taste such old wines, as Madeiras can be. Better than the Cougar's favorite Rombauer Chard...old Madeiras impress. Sure beats what the 'other guy' is offering.

Thank you SO much, Roy! Glad to be back!
Tonight, it's a battle between Ricardo's 30 year and his 40 year. Pop and Pour...the 30 year is lighter, with much zing, elegance, and lift. The 40 year promotes sheer massive structure, relatively.

Do you agree with Mayson's very good, but not great, assessment on the Barbeito 1880 Malvasia?

FTLOP South: Madeira Gathering in Silicon Valley, Part Deux
Let's do it.
I'm looking to recast our 'usual suspects' (Eric, David, Bradley) from our March tasting for another Madeira gathering this summer in Silicon Valley. If anyone cannot make it, we're willing to take on some new recruits.
Perhaps $400-$500 range

This was rather acidic the first couple of days, but is less so now.
I've gone through 2 bottles. I've loved it. I dig acidity.

Fantastic gathering...ongoing Madeira, snacks, and conversation. Dave Spriggs was Man of the Day [cheers.gif], when upon realizing that he brought a duplicate bottle of the Barbeito Mae Manuela 40 year, instead opened up a 1907 Blandy Bual. Low bar tasting suddenly became a high bar tasting mighty f...

Daily drinker, yes, but still, it hits the spot. I got a lot of milage with bottle 1 using my Coravin. The cork is nice and springy.Roy Hersh wrote:I thought the 1994 QH was nice, but I could not call it excellent. Certainly worth of that price though.
