Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
Mike W. and I won at auction last night: 2 @ 1994 Croft 4 @ 2004 Krohn 6 @ 2002 Q de Roriz 6 @ 1991 Delaforce 6 @ 2002 Davis Bynum Port (Mike says made with Malbec grapes) 12 @ 1997 Chateau La Foret Sauternes An odd assortment for sure....but we got it at a v good price (would have been better but a...

Re: Do you find yourself drinking more, or less bottles of LBV?
Crasto too for me, Mike. But honestly, I love the Smith Woodhouse 1995 and 1999 LBVs. Both were phenomenal. If you have not had the 1999 grab one if you can find it! I've also really enjoyed some Dow's and Taylor's over the years ... even though they were filtered. But SW, regardless of the fact th...

Re: What have you opened this week?
Ste Eufemia 10 Year White. A nice one---have had several. But this one was cloudy with a bit of sediment. Maybe a little physically flawed, but the taste was as good as ever. Opened at Darts night July 3rd and finished at a cookout the next day.

Re: What have you opened this week?
Sta Eufemia 10 year White - took to "Darts Night", just lovely and perfect for the fun evening but it threw off a ton of sediment which of course I was not expecting. A little cloudy, but tasted spot on.

Re: Do you find yourself drinking more, or less bottles of LBV?
Definitely less. In my Port journey from the start I was a decided ruby side person with a limited budget. Finding properly aged VPs in a store is difficult and when you do most often provenance is a question because they are displayed standing (infamously my local wine store had a 1966 Fonseca that...

Re: What have you opened this week?
Palmer 10 Year White
Quite feminine in nature. Light, and crisp. Hints of passionfruit and pear with a touch of pecan on the finish. One of the more subtle ports. I have a little left and waiting to see how it evolves, if at all. Lovely. Perfect after a meal.

I'd like to say a "half-wit" but someone who was on the fence. They now cannot. Still room if you'd like to attend!

1980-1995 LBV Tasting in New Jersey, USA
Greetings Port Lovers; Mike W, Matt W, Lucas and I are organizing a tasting and have room for more. Know it is a long shot but still want to offer the invitation. We are going to cap at 12 people and so far have 6.5 commitments: Cost will be about $155 to $180 per person for Port, dinner, corkage fe...

Re: What have you opened this week?
1997 Souza VP. A solid if unremarkable Port. Tasting note to follow. Makes for a good "game night" Port. [cheers.gif] I agree. Some of the heat and rough edges have dissipated on night 2 and it is drinking better. I'll post my tasting note after I try it again tonight. The Souza buying op...

Re: What have you opened this week?
1997 Ferreira.....but it was not right, not cooked but off. Still in the decanter but seems like a Hail Mary. Had opened to sit around the firepit and drink with a couple friends so I popped and poured a 1995 Vista Allegre Colheita. bottled in 2010. Dark as light coffee and overall rather average......

Mike J. W. and I won at auction and will split:
8 @ 1994 Croft VP
3 @ 1983 Grahams VP
We were outbid on a couple of lots but are stoked nonetheless.

Re: 1987 Ferreira Vintage Port
Not one seen very often, that’s for sure. Thanks for the note on it. I have 1 or 2 more bottles left (have to check my inventory). I've picked them up at various auctions for cheap. Ferreira usually goes pretty cheaply at auction, but I find them to be a very good QPR. Ferreira is an unsung hero!! ...
