Re: More fake wines?!?!?
My own feeling is that people who buy wine as an investment probably deserve what they get. I disagree. Why would someone who likes wine and would like to invest not combine both? What's the difference between an 18th century wine bottle and another collectible? I've seen people paying high amounts...

Re: Fonseca Guimaerens 1958 - open or trade?
Last 2-3 years in my cellar. I bought it from someone who's father passed away. I actually went to buy a Mouton Rotschild from 1981 (my birthyear) and ended up coming back with several Moutons and this port. All appeared in good condition and the wines were even protected by "shrinkwrap?"....

Re: Fonseca Guimaerens 1958 - open or trade?
i fully agree on the retail prices Andy. Personally I've hardly tasted any ports from the sixties. So if someone has a high interest to get this bottle traded for something else, I am open for that. Below some pics. btw the importer is actually still existing and located in my hometown. Seems the bo...

Fonseca Guimaerens 1958 - open or trade?
I have a Fonseca Guimaerens 1958 in my cellar waiting to be opened. However, looking at the extreme prices on wine-searcher and the absence of tasting notes, I am wondering if it might be better to trade/sell it. I have the following questions: - Does anyone have a tasting note on it? - Is it worth ...

I got my eyes on a 1985 Ramos Pinto.
Then again, if I go into my cellar I might be tempted to open something completely different.

I still have a pack of these as well. Would you say it is about time to open them or keep them for a bit longer?Eric Menchen wrote:Nope--there wasn't enough for that. On day one these were shared with a few other people.Marco D. wrote:Did you try to make your own blend?

I actually planned on keeping mine for another couple of years having seen the current reviews.Roy Hersh wrote:I have already gone through two sets. I see NO good reason to wait, to be honest.
Would be interesting to see the differences in aging between the different varieties.

Re: How many total bottles of Port do you own?
99 VP's + lot's of Colheita's and LBV's should bring me to approx 220 bottles.
My goal is to get 2 VP's for each bottle I open just to make sure that my collection of VP's expands :)

Re: 1944 Real Companhia Vinicola do Norte Colheita?
I found this wine in a local store, and I've tried searching for info, but the employees know nothing, and the internet doesn't offer much help. Have any of you heard of this one? Apart from a few Madeiras, this has to be the oldest wine available in the country. I almost bought one, but I'd like t...

You think so. Try 1981. I only know that Quinta do Infantado made some. Yet impossible to find...Jay Hack wrote:1951. Ugh! Worst year of the Century. I have a few bottles of an Offley Baron de Forrester that are OK, but that's it.
