Ferreira Duque de Braganca 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Orange-tawny colour. Aromas of walnut, cinnamon and light cocoa. On tasting, there were notes of pecans, vanilla, and raisins. The body was relatively light and it had a nice long finish. A very nice tawny, highly recommended. Bottled in 2011. 94 points

Re: Latest FTLOP newsletter

Great to see a Port opportunity for the UK market!

With BC slowing liberalising our antiquated liquor laws, maybe one day we'll be able to see US shipping of these deals to Vancouver [cheers.gif]

Re: recommendations requested for LBVs

Note to Markus et al: the 2003 QdN LBV is still available in my home town of Surrey (aka by the critics "Sorry" and "Slurrey") for $34 a bottle. Good to know! I noticed it wasn't on the BCLB website anymore. I'm down to 3 bottles so I'll need to restock up in case they are runni...

Re: recommendations requested for LBVs

Ray,

One of the best LBV deals I've found in BC is the 2003 Quinta do Noval LBV. An excellent port for a decent price! [cheers.gif]

Re: The Next Seattle Port Tasting - April 16th 2011

Would love to join you guys but will be in the middle of tax season! Helpful tax tip of the day, 1040's this year are due on April 18th due to Emancipation Day in D.C. falling on April 15th. Best not to wait till the morning of April 17th to finish your return though. :drunk: [kez_11.gif] http://www...

Re: Seattle area tasting, January 2011

Sounds like a good time for a tasting, I would be able to attend. It might be a little difficult to source a 1985 bottle in BC, but if I could reserve something in Seattle or ship a bottle to you it would work well since there is still lots of time left to prepare. I second the idea of hosting it at...

1934 Dalva Colheita Port

1934 Dalva Colheita Port (cask sample) Tasted at the C. da Silva Port Bar on Nov 2nd, 2010 A tawny brown colour with sediment at the bottom. On the nose, it had a sweet brown sugar aroma. Tasted dry, but I had it right after the '63 and '52 Golden Whites which have great acidity, so less acidity re...

1944 Nieport Colheita Bottled 1974 The second of the "WWII Colheitas", the tawny was a similar colour as the '40 Kopke (dark brown with a light brown / lime rim). The aromatics were lighter than expected and I couldn't get much off of it. The palate was full of spices and caramel but was ...

1940 Kopke Colheita Port

1940 Kopke Colheita Bottled in 1988 The Kopke was a dark brown with a light brown / lime rim (noticeably less yellow than the '37 Noval). There was quite a bit of bottle stink on the nose that was hard to get past but I picked up on some cinnamon and apple. It tasted of pecan pie and as others desc...

1937 Quinta do Noval Colheita Bottled in 2008 This tawny was a dark brown with a yellow/lime rim (less yellow than the 1900 Nieport). 1934 Fonseca VP This port was slightly darker than the 1904 Sandeman, and was more tawny and clearer than the 1935 Cockburn.
