2011 Ferreira Porto Late Bottled Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (10-06-2019) Note written after the bottle has been open for 72 hours, having tasted it over all four days. This is an absolute monster with impressive amounts of fruit, tannins and acidity. The fruit is mainly grapes with a bit of d...

Re: Merging Roy's notes
I have seen it now with a couple of wines, the specific one is Ferreira lbv 2011 from the Nov. 16 issue.
So it seems a while ago since last.

Not sure if this has been addressed before, but it isn't all of Roy's tasting notes that are available in the TNDB, would it be possible to somhow merge the notes from the newsletters with the database?

Re: 2017 Vintage Port Tasting Recap with Notes and other information
Thomas, I agree 100% with your objectivity statement, it is almost impossible not to be influenced by the label. With regards to the newer vintages receiving high scores, I think (hope) it is more an indication of the potential for the wine 30-40 years down the road, that is how I interpret them and...

Re: TN: 2004 Quinta do Crasto Old Vines Reserva
At this age the oak should have already started to be a distant background component and not in-your-face. So here's my question. At almost 15 years old and the quite noticeable oak that isn't going anywhere, what do you think will happen when the fruit starts to fade even more but the oak remains?...

Re: What have you opened this week?
2003 Portal VP. Hasn't budged much. Still very primary and tannic. Very much agree with this. We had a Roy's top 12 tasting here in Odense a couple of months back, and all 3 bottles showed very poorly, so I decided to open one from the case I have and found it to be just like you say, also as I rec...

That target has since morphed to two, and when the 1922 vintage reaches it's century in three years time, I'll probably have a hundred centenarian bottles.. Should you need any kind of help getting rid of these somewhat over the hill bottles, feel free to send out an invite for a cellar clearing pa...

Re: 8 Up and Coming Portuguese Grapes ...
A very nice article, and I can see why Eric would say that two of the most well known grapes aren't exactly up and coming.
I do however agree with the article in so far that single varietals from Portugal is still very much an up'n coming market.
