1945 Croft Vintage Port

The Croft 1945 was quite a memorable bottle. The port had 30 minutes of decanting. The whole room smelled like cherry/plum perfume. Still very young with quite a fruit presence. At first a burst of well balanced fruit followed by a mid palate tone of molasses and an unusual eucalyptus/mint undertone...

Andy, I bought 8 bottles of this port 3 years ago in a NJ wine shop for 35 bucks a bottle. Did not know much about it, but, when I went to Porto, someone at the Noval store said that when there was an overabundance of grapes, they bottled this Quinta do Marco, which is one of the Noval suppliers. I a...

Hey Robert, If you are looking for a colheita with all the bells and whistles I would recomend the Krohn Colheita 1965. Very seldom does a colheita gather all the qualities of a well balanced tawny in a single year. 1965 for Krohn was just that. Although Roy is not a big fan of this year, from his t...

Last night for my wife's 35th Birthday Celebration we opened a magnum of the Taylor 1970.

What a fenomenal vintage port.

In the larger format the wine almost tasted younger that the 750ml bottles I have had in the past.

Top 3 of all time in my book.

Cheers

For me it all began in 1978 when I was only 7 years old. Sunday lunches at my grandmothers in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil and the whole family would convene for those extended lunch extravaganzas. All the young ones, myself being the youngest, would get a little shot glass of Sandeman Fine Ruby Reserve P...

Prezado Mario,

This will be a great opportunity to draw in all of the local Porto afficionados in the area (New York).

Definatelly keep us in the loop.

Maybe Roy could find an excuse to come out to the east coast again for a due diligence meeting!

On my last trip to Porto, I was fortunate enough to pick up a six pack of VV2000, and back pack it on the plane like a baby back to NYC.

Great to know it got such an extraordinary review.

Cheers!

Quinta do Marco VP 1983

Recently I purchased Quinta do Marco (Noval) Single Quinta VP 1983 at liquor store in Hopewell NJ. The guy told me that in those days when a container of Noval port was shipped they threw in these bottles as "Stuffers". They happen to be numbered. I found very little on this Quinta, can an...
