Re: Torre Bella vs Bolger

Bolger is considered a grower. No selo on the bottle. Vineyards in the old Torre Bella estate. There have been wines with a Torre Bella label and stencil. I've a few of the 1865 Sercial. I believe they were bottled by the estate of Russel Gordon some decades ago (by the last Viscountess?) and are d...

BTW: Lately I get the impression that our first name is somehow positively correlated to Madeira topics, for a reason I don't know.

So many Andy, Andrew, Andreas,...here...

Re: Torre Bella vs Bolger

Hi Andy!

No, how could I know.

Nevertheless I tend to just include hyperlinks to files when posting someone else's photos; just to make sure I don't violate copyright laws, which can turn out to be an annoying and expensive thing.

Re: Torre Bella vs Bolger

Hi Andrew! I am not sure if I do completely understand your question, but I can assure that Bolger is not the SHIPPER. It is to be noted that "Torre Bella" is the title of the estate and nobility whereas the Bolgers have been the decendant family inheriting that title, like "Mr. Dermo...

Re: Niepoort collection

Hi Glenn, +1. I actually think that Dirk is - btw - not too interested in our explanation, anyways, and that he just tried to generate some interest in the hope of receiving an offer via our community (for sure lots of people read this forum and some may be looking for some bottles). But I really lo...

Re: Niepoort collection

Hi there! First post and that is an offer without introducing yourself how you acquired, stored, cared for the wines...I'd say: you have guts! Coming back to the value, and this is a friendly advice: the base of your calculations should be cellartracker and auction prices instead of winesearcher and...

Lisboa: + 1 for Belcanto. Funchal: if looking for top-quality and not super-expensive, but upper-class: https://www.portobay.com/en/restaurants/restaurants-madeira/avista/ they now also have an asian-themed branch/restaurant, which I haven't tried. if for QPR: https://en.armazemdosal.com/ https://ww...

Re: Updating the madeira wine vintage list

Hi Andy (V),

they are good, but as often as I tried to "suggest" a fix I received the response that my suggestion has not been executed.

Which is a pitty, and to be honest disencourages me to dig deeper into correction mode...

Re: Updating the madeira wine vintage list

Hi Andy!

I have to say that I always add all my Madeiras into CellarTracker, so I couldn't be of any help additionally to those Madeiras already listed in CT.

But I am very much excited and the only question is, if Roy has already signalized his OK to publish an updated list?!

Cheers

Re: ABSL - which Frasqueiras are seekworthy

1934 M Faja is really great, 1914 excellent (maybe the 20 years evolution helped the 1914, just a point delta on my 100points scale). And yes, Oli has some casks, but the old wines were NOT sold/transferred back then, with some newer barrels handed to Oli; the latter is completely understandable, si...

ABSL - which Frasqueiras are seekworthy

Having a few Barros' Madeiras in my cellar, I confess to have tasted even fewer lately. I just wonder, since this is a closed operation, anyways (and Oliveiras didn't buy the old stock from ABSL), which are the ones you know and liked? For me the 1860 were good (M great and B very good), and the 191...
