Mutual consensus seems to be that they are indeed close. Maybe I should focus to '94 vintage instead.. Thanks guys!

Are 2000 VP's shut down now?

Just wondering how drinkable 2000 VP's are now? It's seven years from the harvest and they should currently be in the "shut down" phase. Lately I have been tasting only a couple of bottles and they both have been closed (Dow, Warre) but what is vintage's status overall now? I'm considering...

Thanks for the answer, Frédérick. I have no idea about its "fair" price, if '95 was offered at 70€ maybe 90€ for '99 is not so bargain.

Barca Velha 1999 - Bargain or not?

Alko offers 112 bottles of Barca Velha 1999 at 90€ - to me it seems a good deal, or what do you think? Anyone tasted it?

To me the clear choice is '87 - It offers suberb value versus price. Because there were no hype generated by a general declaration, this vintage has always been somehow "out-of-fashion".

 Thats a lot of money in shipping for a case.
I agree. I just asked about the delivery charges from Berrys and this was the answer.

It always hurts when someone mention words "free delivery" - in this case it means 70£ (one case's delivery to Finland). One can forget those LBV bargains.. :(

This is one of the reasons I am building (albeit very slowly!) a contraption to remove and preserve ancient corks. Tom That's interesting! May I borrow it when it's ready? I guess we all have this same problem with old corks. Hmm, it can't be any kind of drill system thorough the cork.. it m...

Ok, thanks Tom. I think those ´22s are quite close to 20 year old tawnys what comes to taste & colour. Btw, I recall to hear/read that when Dominic Symington was asked about the best port he has been tasted the answer was Warre VP 1922! Thus it can't be so bad, maybe even one of those "over...

Thanks for the TN Tom. Btw, any idea how good port year 1922 was overall? Was it fully-declared? I have Burmester VP 1922 thus it would be nice to know more about the vintage. For some reason Richard Mayson skipped that year in his famous Port-bible..

Oldest bottle what I have is Quinta do Loureiro Colheita 1871. Interesting question indeed is, how old is the oldest bottle which still exist? Tom, what is the oldest that you have seen auctioned?

2003 Vintage Port suprise: Has a new cult port legend born?

Pintas 2003 Vintage Port Decanted 10 hours prior to tasting. The nose is intense, full of dark, ripe fruits with a hint of spiciness. The balance seems to be evident right from the nose, even if the sweetness is notable it's also controlled by tight tannins. And the taste gives what the nose promis...

Taylor's 10 Years Old Tawny - 2006 bottling disappointment

Just tried 2006 bottling and it was a big disappointment. Whereas 2005 was fiery and mouthfilling, 2006 bottling seems to be acidless and hollow - big disappointment indeed. Or is it just bad bottle? Anyone else tried 2006 bottling?

Thanks Kris. This is a kind of basic assumption, I just wondering if there is any deeper consiquences, I mean if wine is stored colder the elements are integrated differently thus the taste is different, not just "younger".

Question about storage temperature and integration?

I remember that Hugh Johnson wrote in his famous World Atlas of Wine something like "...wine which has been stored in Nordic monopolies cool cellars taste different then wine which has been stored in wormer conditions..." The question is, how this applies for Port? Does its elements integr...
