Re: Graham's 1963

The comments I get on this type of old port from friends is about the tannin and the brandy showing. They

want it smooth and balanced but I like port with grip.

Re: Graham's 1963

2nd day- Nose lesser-body very tannic & brandy filled-I like this profile but most would not.

I would give it a 18-18+/20.

Re: Fonseca - '63. '70, or '85; which is the best?

66 was great 30 years ago but I've had it 3 times in the last 2 years-it's odd now-rustic-very tannic-woody-thin aftertaste.

As to the question-hard to pick between 63 and 70(I'll go 63) but IMO 85 is lesser.

I would stand up the bottle for a minimum of 3 days-better 7 days before decanting.

Taylor 1994 -- 1/2 bottle

Nose: deep-young-powerful

Body: very full

Taste: fruity-rich-complex

Aftertaste: nice-but not great

Ordered 2 cases as futures got 2 bottles-Cra-.

This 1/2 btl was $28.99-thought that was expensive at the time.

19/20 points -Not as good as the 1992.

Old Ports after opening-ageability

Drinking mostly 63,70,70 T,F,and G I've changed my opinion that ports should be drunk as opened.

Many of my ports last and improve over time-1 to 2 weeks. Most are better the second day.

I was told that my bottle fill is not as shown(it must have been stored upsidedown) there is a sediment plug

at the top.

Re: 1870 Taylor-Fladgate Madeira Sercial

The possible answer to that can be found at the "WineLovers Discussion Group" of 2/24/14-Charles Weiss said"The D'Oliveira family sold a

few hundred liters to-MWA"-?bottled after the 1984 sale? See the MWG for 1870 S TF Sercial.

Re: 1970 vs. 1985

70 & 85 W could be a toss up-I know most people don't like 85 T as much as me but 70 F is the big winner.

Now I like 85 F but IMO it's not even close.

Re: 1970 vs. 1985

Much better-I was at a 85 release tasting and I was not impressed-but since a few of the wines I like(T,F and to a

much lesser degree W. I didn't buy many.
