w00t! That's not wrong!

We're taking a couple extras down to Andy's - still have quite a few left though, so maybe some will make it up to Sammamish as well!

Carl, Welcome aboard and nice to have you with us. Some mighty fine wines in your list. Please tell Darrell Corti that Roy Hersh sends his regards. He is one of the more brilliant men in terms of wine I've ever met. Roy - I recalled this post when I came across this article about Darrell Corti toda...

Re: Flying with Port

We've flown with bottles of wine - Port and otherwise, T-stopper and driven cork - many times without issue. Luggage compartments on commercial airliners are not unpressurized - they're at the same pressure as the cabin.

Re: First foray into Madeira - How'd we do?

Yes, those prices are a bit high. A 2 oz. pour of the Cossart at $125 when the BOTTLE sells at retail about $600 [help.gif] ...And remember, they bought that bottle wholesale! Oh yeah! But, it did give us a reference point to know whether we'd be interested in buying a bottle for $500-$600. It was ...

We'll see how my rankings change after the 20-yr Tawny horizontal that we're planning, but at the moment, I'd say:

Portal
Taylor
Noval

are my favorites - in no particular order.

Re: First foray into Madeira - How'd we do?

Which restaurant in Sac has old Madeira by the glass? [1974_eating_popcorn.gif] The Firehouse in old Sac on 2nd street. Overpriced (of course), but we wanted to splurge since it was our anniversary and we'd never tried any old Madeira. After dinner we also splurged on a spoonful of Royal Tokaji Ess...

First foray into Madeira - How'd we do?

For our anniversary tonight, we went out to one of the nicer restaurants in the Sacramento area. We chose our particular destination for two reasons. First, we hadn't ever eaten there together and second, they have a large wine list including many older bottles. Before dinner, we sat in the bar for ...

We'll be holding one in the Sacramento area. Whether we conform to the newly proposed format remains to be seen (but I think that by default we will, since we already have all of those 20's and more).

Re: Is it too hot to drink Port?

I put a 1947 Kopke Colheita in the refrigerator today as it was in the mid-80's here today. When it was opened, we drank it slightly chilled and allowed it to warm a bit in the glass. Really yummy! It was in the low 100's here (more today). Mid-80's sounds like a walk-in fridge! The '47 Kopke sound...
