Re: What Madeira Have You Opened This Week?
The 1934 H&H Verdelho was delicious. It didn't have the concentration of most of the others, but it had a purity that kept me coming back; it was one of the pours that I finished earliest in the evening. It was reminiscent of a lime lollypop...in the best possible way. All of the bottle were op...

12x2011 Taylor Vinha Velha Not tried, but I just love the vintage. I truly suspect these will drink beautifully now and any year they are opened. Wo! Great buy! Where did you buy them? I had 4 in 2015 and one of the 4 was drunk. I plan to drink the next one in 5 or 10 years. Give news if you drink ...

Re: What Portuguese wines have you opened this week
2015 Vallado Reserva. Young but open. Decided this instead of traditional Zinfandel for Thanksgiving dinner for parents as we made Peas Portuguesa w/chourico and Portuguese style turkey scallopini with roasted tomato & fennel sauce a la Todd English. The pairing worked well.

1987 Niepoort VP. 1st year Dirk entirely made the wine. Stunning. Needed 5+ hours of air to blow off some funk, almost smelled a bit oxidized at first, but fully blew off. Beautifully balanced, even better the next day holding in the fridge with no argon.
Glad I have 11 more!

So, would those be from Krohn's stock that was purchased? If so, they would be fresher than the 1968 Krohn's I bought a bunch of. My and wife's birth year. My birth year as well. Ah. Another '68er. Awesome! Will let you know when we plan the next '68 vintage party. Got a bunch of bottles waiting fo...

I'd call them colheitas, but they're labeled as above.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
The 1987 Garrafeira runs about $600 per bottle . So if you got a case for $550 W/BP I'd be shocked if it is the Garrafeira. My guess would be VP or Colheita, and as you said either of those would be fine at that price. I tried to order some direct and was talking about maybe getting a case or two. ...
