Wine Stores in Texas

I'll be visiting Texas in late August.

Any recommendation of store with great selection in Dallas and/or Houston area? Thanks in advance!

Re: Dows 2002 Crusted

Alex,
Dow's Crusted 1999 gave me roughly the same overall impression but I never felt a difference with ageing (5 or 6 years between the first time and the last time).

Re: Your SQVP love quotient

Uncle Tom,
Interesting, your analysis. Does the 70% worked for the 70's as well ? From my point of view, it seems very tough to find 7 years in this decade that is "vintage-able".

Re: Do you have a list of vintages for each producer?

Eric and Derek, If by any chance you could be interested by the list I have set up last summer, I'll be happy to help you but it only includes the 1977-2006 era. It does not includes VP not on the market, 2006 were not all declared at that time and it certainly not have the pretention to be a comple...

I never had the chance to taste a White Colheita, this type is very rare on the market here.

Except Dalva and Krohn, who produces white colheitas?

Ifo,
Graham's '85 ans Krohn '65 are definitely sure shots. TF 2001 is great too although I prefer always unfiltered LBV's. I've never experienced tawnies from Kopke which are less common in Canada I presume.

I've watched it yesterday and I had the same reflexion about Rupert Symington's quotes. It is not impossible, of course, technically but I just don't believe that it is happening in that industry, particularly in the Symington. Group. If there is a lot of producers that disappears in the next 10 yea...

Steven,
Thanks for Niepoort, I'll adjust. Concerning Heredias, they're unfiltered for sure. About, Baldias, Bucheiro. Romaneira and Javali, it's a good thing to know because I've never seen them here In Canada, I just know them by names and could'nt say a word about their reputation.

Bjorn, Yes, they are; I could suggest, by the way, the Quinta das Heredias 1999 which has a lot to offer, if you can find it in Norway. Raj, It is strongly possible that Quinta do Portal should be included but Rozès make modern LBV's for what I know. Thanks for the idea, I'll check. I'm looking prec...

Unfiltered LBV's

I'm doing a list of unfiltered LBV's (like Paul did or still does with VP) down to 1977 and I was wondering if someone could help me with a useful link. Wine Searcher is not so efficient because lots of them are sold since a long time when we talk about LBV's before 1985 or even early 90's (but ever...

I've never tried it but I've heard from many that Messias VP 1984 was one competing with Cruz 1989 as the worst of all time. Does anyone could confirm that they are in the same poor category?

My choices: Graham's Six Grapes
Quinta da Ervamoira 10 yrs
Pocas LBV 1999
But I would add some teas too (It's probably easier to drink tea when you're 29 and you live in UK... people seems to don't understand here why someone under 70 drink tea...)
