Re: Your BEST Port tasted in 2016?
New Years eve, I had a Niepoort Colheita 1908. Pretty good [cheers.gif]. But it did'nt beat the Niepoort VV (old bottling) I had this summer. This Year has been Portcrazy, taking part of the historic Niepoort Garrafeira-tasting in DK and enjoying some nicely matured VP's from 1935-1945. What a Year....

Re: What are your favorite 30 Year Tawny Ports?
After the tasting, our host presented 2 more 30 Year olds. A Messias bottled in 1975, and a most wonderful Fonseca, believed to have been bottled in the mid 60s. If the before mentioned Fonseca had been part of the tasting, There would have been another winner. Still powerful and fresh. Reminding me...

3) Krohn
It was my first Javali, and it surprised hugely.

Re: What have you opened this week?
One of my All time favorites! A simple bottle of Port from Niepoort. Fine old Senior Port. In Cask for 7 years, in bottle for 39 years (as written on the cork), in a decanter for 3 hours, and in my glass for 15 min. Simply the Best non vintage I know. (Not talking about the VV offcoarse) The Nose wa...

The tasting notes are all 5 of us chipping in, and the 'dentist', came from my sweet girlfriend.
Clove oil, is used in the dentistworld, as an antiseptic.
And she tasted clove in the port...
Mt. Ventoux....the Nose and taste just getting better and better or higher and higher..

Re: shepherds 37
The Shepherds's 1937 is now history. The cork was soft, and for the first time, the Durand didnt make it come out in one piece....Had vintage 1937 written on it. The Corks condition tells me, that it was +50 years old The port was very cloudy. A bit like a colheita, sweet and fat. Nothing special. A...

Facts and funny: 1) Bottled and labeled in Denmark 2) In a champagne bottle 3) With a T-stopper 4) lots of crust 5) Big Nose, and round and deep taste (just after opening) The picture of the wineglas is taken through the bottle. Just to show the green and b...

Once again Ramos Pinto showes great potential.
And 1880-1930 Jubilee.
Not the longest aftertaste, But sweet, soft and smooth.
And look at the colour! Bright as appeljuice...
