Are you seeking an 1815 Ferreira Vintage Port?
This is a funny year; the end of the Napoleonic era, a transitional time politically, the British still largely in exile; and there's really nothing to say that this is really 'vintage' port as we'd know it. In fact it could be anything. Perhaps if it has more time in wood it's more likely to have w...

Re: Maturity in half bottles
Very interesting replies. I wonder whether halves might sometimes have a completely different maturation curve - not just 'the same but faster'. Perhaps they have a longer plateau. We would need to do a test over several years though..! I think I'll get half my Warre '00 halves out of storage and se...

Maturity in half bottles
I'm curious to know how long you leave half bottles of VP to become 'mature' - is it a judgement you make according to the wine, is there a rule of thumb, do you just open one and see what's cooking?

1964. I have a half bottle that Dirk gave me and that he'd bottled only that day.

This is really great news! A special release at an everyday price - well done SFE. Glad to see that they still see the value of their everyday consumers - seriously.

Re: Old Wood-aged Ports and controversial thoughts
Good discussion point Roy. I am slightly surprised to see Paul so candid about Adrian Bridge; I didn't see this article in the print edition. It doesn't seem to say very much; but I can confirm that the Ne Oublie is a really fantastic port and one would never guess it to be so old.

And in first place, Dalva, followed 2 seconds behind by Warre. Cockburn about ten to fifteen lengths behind.

As the black sail of Warre looms closer, I feel somewhat like Aegeus awaiting the return of Theseus. I might just jump in and end it all..

Re: Sao Joao and the Rabello boat race
Sandeman took a bad line and have failed to negotiate the only real bend in the course of the race. Tom and George have presumably decided to beach and head for the nearest bar. Meanwhile Derek and Alex are rowing like slaves aboard the Graham's boat.
Warre still in the lead.
Warre still in the lead.

There's a property by a bend in the river between Pinhão and Tua that's been getting some very obvious and very major redevelopments. I wonder.

Glenn, it's French. Many mottoes on Scottish arms are; a link going back to Catholic links between France and Scotland before the Act of Union (1707) I guess.
