Re: 1980 Warre’s Vintage Port
TFP VPs from 1980 are all "a miss" or amiss, depending on your interpretation. I agree that Sandeman and Ferreira are both drinking really well these days. Gould Campbell, Dow's and Smith Woodhouse are ridiculously young, and Graham's right there too. Nacional has finally hit its stride, ...

1980 Warre’s Vintage Port
1980 Warre’s Vintage Port Today was a classically wet, damp, grey day in London. Although my spirits were still on a modest high after last night’s highly enjoyable “Jay Miller visits London” offline, I felt a suitably warming red would fit the bill of seeing off this wintery day. Those of you who ...

1980 Calem Quinta da Foz Vintage Port
TN: 1980 Calem: Quinta da Foz - Vintage Port With Portugal playing in the European football semi-final against Wales (I had drank my last bottle of Welsh Riesling some years ago), I opened something Portuguese. Stood up for 24 hours, decanted for one hour before we drank it over 3 hours. The cork c...

1980 Taylor's Vintage Port
1980 Taylor's Vintage Port My brother said he would come round and see me for dinner. Knowing this, I stood up a bottle of Vintage Port the day before. We both enjoy Port and wine, so I thought this would bring us both joy. I decanted this 4 hours before we started to drink it. I managed to extract...

I've found that most stores aren't even aware that there were two different Ports in 2003 and often sell one as the other as if they are interchangeable.

2003 Quinta do Portal Vintage Port
TN: 2003 Quinta do Portal – Vintage Port It is very rare for me to drink vintage port under 21 years old, unless I taste cask samples or recently bottled finished Ports. This bottle does state on the back label: “Our vintage Port is best drunk after about ten years.” Decanted into a ships decanter ...

1985 Warre’s Vintage Port
TN: 1985 Warre’s Vintage Port Snow in London is an excellent excuse to crack open a bottle of Port. It was time for action... Warre’s 1985 Vintage Port and I have the longest relationship of any wine that I have ever owned or drunk. I first sampled its charms when I was a university undergraduate i...

TN: 1985 Grahams Vintage Port
TN: 1985 Grahams Vintage Port What better way to chase to snow laden cold in London than with a bottle of Port. Decanted for 6 hours. Deep plum red. An enticing nose of earthy red fruits with a dash of herbs. The palate is a seamless velvet acceleration of sweet red plums with a dash of alcohol acr...

TN: Magnums of Dow Port dinner: 1963 – 1994 plus other Ports Prologue Winter is the season to be Porting! I do love a good bottle of Port, shared amongst family and friends. Re: What have you opened this week?
Then Nicos, my British brother from another mother ... thank you for posting once again. With all of your many Ports, it amazes me how infrequently you drink them. Glad they were available and open for your family to enjoy on Christmas. Don't be a stranger! [friends.gif] Nicos, was one of the first...

TN: 1985 Fonseca VP
Greetings Port friends! I have been upping my Port drinking game these last few days. A Niepoort 1992 VP was delightful after a few hours in the decanter. Having drunk 8 bottles of this Port in the last 5 years, I like it in its current state and am inclined to drink through my remaining bottles ov...

Re: 1977 Morgan’s Vintage Port
Andy,
Yes we all bought loads of the 1991, including me. The 1977 is worthy, if you can find it. I have tried the 1985 which is a very nice house Port, but not up to the 1991.
Cheers,
Nicos

1977 Morgan’s Vintage Port
1977 Morgan’s Vintage Port (Douro, Portugal) I volunteered to bring along a decent Port with Charles’ expertly chosen cheese course consisting of five wholly English cheeses. Such patriotism! From the excellent 1977 Silver Jubilee Anniversary year. I decanted the Port for two hours just after break...
