Thanks for the great note! I have 2 of these, which I grabbed because 1975 is a birthyear wine for my girlfriend. Encouraging!
Cheers,
Blair

Re: 1977 Gould Campbell Vintage Port
Hi David!
I agree - 1977 GC is a fave of mine...and mostly under-rated even today. Powerful stuff!

Blair

Hey Bill,
Was that my bottle? I really enjoyed that one! If I recall correctly the decant time on that bottle was about 6 hours at cellar temp.
Cheers,
Blair

Re: DOMINIC SYMINGTON
Hello Dominic, Thanks so much for replying to my earlier question, and for all your generous responses. I have one more area I was hoping you would comment on. For me, whenever we do horizontal tastings of a given Port vintage, I find the Warre's to be elegant (in a good way) and in some ways more r...

Re: DOMINIC SYMINGTON
Hello Dominic, I'm curious about the shift in branding (for lack of a better term) away from "Colheita" and towards "Single Harvest Tawny". Was this in response to confusion in the market? Was this choice to appeal to a broader market base, including consumers who are not regular...

Hi Folks, Between Bronwyn and I, we can contribute two out of the following (Roy, just let me know what you need most): Fonseca Vesuvio Taylor Warres :winebath: (I also have a record that I'm supposed to have one remaining bottle of Dows, but I have not seen it in a long time, so I'm not 100% sure.)...

Re: Special Occasion Port
I've got a 3L of 2011 Graham's that will be for a very special occasion. What exactly that is, I'm not sure at this point. But it will need to be special to open that bottle. Hey Andy, I got a 3L of 2011 Fonseca...let me know when you are REAL thirsty and we'll get together! [cheers.gif] If you're ...

Re: JAMES SUCKLING
Hello James,
Thanks for taking the time to answer questions.
Here's mine: is there any one VP that stands out in your mind as one that you feel your peers have under-rated...that is to say one that you enjoy significantly more than other Port writers you have read?
Cheers,
Blair

Re: João Nicolau de Almeida - November's Guest Corner Host
Hello Joao, I remember well when the 1994 Vintage Ports were released and RP offered both 1994 VP and 1994 Quinta de Ervamoira. At that time, some writers stated that these wines were both of excellent quality, but had different profiles/structure. Here are my questions: 1) Have you had these two 19...

Just to give you an idea of how much I am not kidding, the regular 750 of Fonseca 2000, if available, goes for between $125 and 145 in Canada. Todd Hi Todd, I can't quite agree with the generalization. In B.C., it is well-known that the BCLB buys lots of VP and usually significantly discounts certa...

Re: My Favorite Port of 2007
I've also had some absolutely stunning Ports this year, but I'm going to pick a single bottle as my favorite. 1815 Royal Oporto Like others here on the forum who were there to taste it, it was a remarkable experience both for the age of the bottle, and for the Port inside. Hi Stewart, Yeah that was...

For the FTLOP Brothas in B.C. - Sale on 2003 QdN and Fonseca
Hey, Was at the Park Royal (West Vancouver) BCLB specialty shop this weekend and they have 2 great 2003 VPs on sale (these are not at the reduced price at Cambie). 2003 Quinta do Noval VP now at CDN $78.24 (previously around $104). 2003 Fonseca VP now at around CDN $98 (previously around $135). Get ...

1994 Niepoort Vintage Port
Was in Seattle in May and enjoyed another fine meal at Wild Ginger, where I removed from their cellar the last bottle of '94 Niepoort VP (very reasonably priced on the list @ $75 I believe). Decanted for about 1.5 hours as the meal progressed. This wine was predictably heady, showing strong, but wel...

Well well. Many causes for celebration this w/e. Tomorrow is a good friend's 50th birthday. And he's quite a lover of fine wines. Then on Sunday, another cigar loving friend has invited me to dinner. And the anniversary of FTLOP too!!! Sounds like a weekend begging for Port. Maybe a young one that w...
