Re: What was the TOP Portuguese table wine you consumed in 2017?
One of the top table wines i tasted this year was João Clara Negramole 2013 red. Since the Algarve wines don't get mentioned that often, this is my choice:

Quinta da Devesa tinto 2014. Rich and tannic, excellent quality/price ratio to my taste. Anyone familiar with this producer? http://www.quintadadevesa.pt/#xl_xr_page_douro-wines

Oh yeah, silly me. Sorry about the misunderstanding.Eric Menchen wrote: I was referring to purchase prices. Purchase prices for comparable apartments in Lisbon are significantly higher than Porto.
Staying for a few nights or more, which I've done in both Lisbon and Porto, is very reasonable.

Re: Urban rehabilitation in Porto (Video)
Really Eric? Earlier this year while staying at Lisbon i found there was lots of choices with the apartments and with a very reasonable price. This was still the high season at the end of August and we paid 390 euros for three nights in Chiado, very much in the heart of the city. It was a three bedr...

Re: Considering Colheitas
a. This is a very close call between the Dow's 1982 Colheita and the Royal Oporto Colheita 1980. I think both are top notch but i'll go with the Royal Oporto just because of it's long black pepperish finish which i can almost taste in my mouth right now. b. Krohn 1966 Colheita. Excellent, rich Port ...

Re: Francesinha
I know for sure that Sara left Bufete Fase out of the list intentionally. And why is that? She told me that one of the main reasons is that Bufete Fase started to use frozen french fries instead of fresh or self made with their Francesinha. It's the little things! That's what i call pedantic. :)

Urban rehabilitation in Porto (Video)
I returned home from Porto less than two weeks ago and you can really notice that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsTghAxdNd0 The renewal of the historic centre is a good thing. The flip side is that the inhabitants can't afford to live there anymore. The rents have doubled in the last few years, i ...

Certainly not. They are high quality prints of 1920's vintage advertising posters for port wines.Moses Botbol wrote:Are they originals?

I found these this time from A Vida Portuguesa, a shop very close to Lello bookshop. There were some great Sandeman posters too.

Bufete fase gets my vote too but hugely popular Cafe Santiago comes close. As with Bufete fase you better get ready to queue for the restaurant tables.

Thanks, that is something i would consider if i stumbled upon those.Eric Menchen wrote:Port tongs might be something to pick up. That is not a typical tourist item, but if you drink Port they can be fun.
This kind of stuff is what i have in mind. Ginja (ginjinha) related items have my interest too:

Vinha do Bispado 2014, Douro. Vigorous red wine, great acidity and pepperish finish. Excellent quality-price ratio (8,90 € in Finland). Mika, never heard of this one. Odelouca Tinto 2014, Quinta do Frances, Algarve, Portugal. Well balanced, fantastic wine which i bought from the winery some 2 months ago. After a very nice tour and a tasting session with their awarded wines. Very beautiful place too.
