Very nice!
If I wasn't out of town already that weekend, I would have seriously considered driving down for this. Sounds like great fun!

Re: 2025 Buying Op
I don't think anyone would say no to a mid-year DR opportunity, but maybe minimum purchase on that could be 6 bottles since they're a little pricier? Yes. The last time I took 6 to keep for myself and 6 to host a tasting, in order to get to the case minimum. Justino's 50yo Terrantez Oooo, interesti...

Re: Why do Madeira Colheita labels not state the bottling date?
To followup on my original post, Justino's 1996/1997/1998 Colheitas tend to be 20 year olds. They still have not put the bottling date on either label, but you can find it in the laser code on the glass if you look carefully.

Re: 50 Year Old Terrantez
I would certainly be interested. That Justino's 50yo Terrantez is quite special. I recall the only reason I didn't buy a bottle or three was the price was relatively high (400€ ?), compared to their other excellent offerings. A few years back Blandy's did a 50yo Malmsey blend that was excellent for ...

D'Oliveiras 1900 Moscatel Groudo (2022)
Blandy's 1980 Terrantez (2016)
Wow, this 1900 Moscatel is a truly special wine, just as incredible as when tasted at the lodge last year. As rich and chewy as you'd hope, powerful acid to balance, and full of exotic spices.

Re: What Madeira Have You Opened This Week?
It’s a tasty pour with a nice richness and respectable acid. But more like a spicy Boal than a traditional Terrantez.
All in, this bottle cost me $235, which feels like a bargain for a very nice 45yo Madeira.

Cossart Gordon Terrantez 1975 (bottled 2020)
I don't have any other Terrantez from the Madeira Wine Co. open to directly compare, but it seems a touch sweeter than Blandy's bottlings.
Much less barrel influence than the 1977 Blandy's which has almost as much time in the barrel. (2015 bottling).

Re: Maynard’s 40 Year Old Tawny Port
Oh, that's a shame. I've been able to source this in the pst for around $50. Each of the bottles I've had were solid, but not excellent. But at that price point, I was always happy.

Re: What Madeira Have You Opened This Week?
Picked up the following at a NH State Liquor store while visiting for the weekend. Borges 10yo Old Reserve Malmsey Miles 15yo medium rich Tinta Negra The Miles 15 is pleasant but unremarkable. Is that the house style? My limited exposure to Borges - with a couple exceptions I’ve found them OK but a ...

Cellar lifespan of Moscatel de Setúbal
One of the "other" Portuguese fortified wines, of which I am quite fond. Does anyone have knowledge of whether these wines hold up well in a cellar? For instance Madeira will last a very long time, while Tawny Port is best enjoyed within a couple years of bottling. (Yes, I know there is so...

Re: What Madeira(s) Have You Purchased Recently?
A local shop (Gordon's for you MA folks) did a pre-order for D'Oliveiras this fall. Just picked up my order: - 1988 Terrantez - 1977 Sercial - 1994 Verdelho The funny thing is the pre-order email came out in October while I was in Madeira with Roy. So after our epic all-day tasting at D'Oliveiras, I...

Re: Looking for once in a lifetime tastings in Portugal
The Kopke tasting room in Vila Nova de Gaia is excellent. You start out downstairs where you select the wines you would like to taste. They offer port going back to the 1930's and the ladies will offer excellent suggestions of flights or comparisons. It is not free, but the selection is excellent, a...

Re: Is this even possible?
Eric was pointing out the ".pt" suffix for Portugal. Many (all?) countries have their own suffix, plus there are a bunch more (.gov, .edu, .com, .org). So the Portugal site is https://www.ivdp.pt/, but you could have a "French" version as https://www.ivdp.fr/, etc., etc.
