Re: ADRIAN BRIDGE

Dear Adrian, Thank-you very much for this wonderful opportunity to ask you questions. First question: Do you have a favorite Port outside of the Fladgate Partnership portfolio (my sincere apologies if this question is too sacrilegious!)? Or maybe to ask a different way, what’s one Port you wish your...

Re: The next great subscriber's buying opPORTunity.

I'd like to thank Roy for organizing this Port Buy. While the process wasn't perfect (I hope Manuel feels better soon) it's all good. 10 cases of Port with free shipping and 10% off the total cost! The minor bumps along the way greatly outweigh the fantastic deal that will be delivered.

Re: Dec. 2015: Your best Port tasted this year?

I didn't try a ton of ports this year, but the one that stood out for me was the Ferreira Duque de Braganca 20 Year Tawny. Magical stuff. The other port that exceeded my expectations was the Graham's Natura Reserve Port (organic). This could be a separate forum discussion, but is there such a thing ...

Re: NV Ferreira Porto Duque de Braganca 20 Year Old Tawny

Thanks for the kind words, Roy! I don't have much experience writing about port, but I'm a beer judge in the BJCP so I get to review a fair number of home-brews during the year. The BJCP scoresheet is more structured than a free formed review, however, both encompass virtually the same info: aroma, ...

NV Ferreira Porto Duque de Braganca 20 Year Old Tawny

Bottled 2014 Incredibly attractive deep amber color. Brilliant clarity. Initial aromatics are smoky with copious amounts of spicy alcohol and oak barrel character. Some orange citrus fruit, raisin, plum, and sweet orange blossom honey follow. The spice character is difficult to identify because ther...

Ramos Pinto Quinta do Bom Retiro 20 year Tawny NV

First Tasting Note! Bought a bottle based on FTLOP 2015 awards. Bottled 2013. Deep amber in color. Complex aromatics akin to a dried fruit compote--dried figs, dates, honey, and orange citrus zest. Pronounced alcohol, but not hot. Light menthol. Silky texture, soft tannins. Substantial, rounded warm...
