Re: What have you opened this week?

San Leonardo 40 year old tawny. Bottled 2011. This was spectacular and would give a lot of current 50 year olds a run for their money. Arguably, it probably was a 50 year old. Those older bottles circa 2010-2012 have always seemed like there were a very different, older blend. Yup, I'm saving the r...

That’s good one. assume you’ve chilled it in the fridge given the heat? We’ve got a heatwave going. Not Vegas level, thank god, but pushing 100 isn’t fun. My “port” identifies itself as a Long Island Ice Tea today LOL.

I never considered it a split declaration. I did have a case of 82 Noval at one time. Drank up long ago. A decent, medium weight Port.

Re: Conceito by Barbeito Lote 3 White Port

A joint venture with Barbeito and Conceito with fruit from Conceito's vineyards. I tasted the Lote 2 a couple years ago. Decent for what it is, but agree, it's a tad expensive.

Re: 2022 Taylor's Sentinel Vintage Port Introduced

I asked Adrian about this at the Yeatman. He said it was to be positioned below Vargellas but ahead of Terra Feita in the hierarchy. I mentioned it could be confusing since it's not really a single quinta but he felt it had good market potential being superior to Terra Feita. I'd like to taste it to...

Re: Why do Madeira Colheita labels not state the bottling date?

I want to say the bottling date became mandatory in the mid2000's but that's just off the top of my head. I know D'Oliveiras did so a few years earlier.

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

From my visit to Sao Joao, only a single bottle of 1974 Barros Colheita. This one had the regular label bottled 2024. There is another 2024 bottling with a label celebrating the 50 year carnation revolution anniversary. I've only seen the celebration label at the Sogevinus shop for 175 euros. No emp...

Re: NETFLIX Series to watch?

I loved the series "Makunai, cooking for the Maiko house." A gentle, sweet show with no protagonists. Delves into the world of Kyoto Geisha and Japanese home cooking. You get invested in all the characters.
