Re: Tasting A Dozen Centuries Of Madeira
Two bottles of Pather! [notworthy.gif] Gotta be a first. If I understand correctly, the Rare Wine Co. version, Is from Jose Borges, one of the grandsons. He rebottled the bottles he inherited. I believe all bottles of Pather were originally bottled at the same time from demijohn in front of the survi...

Re: What Madeira(s) Have You Purchased Recently?
From the Madeira Wine Company, probably then known as the Madeira Wine Association. Most likely the same wine as the Blandy's 1880 Solera Solera. Both labels were members and they consolidated wine stocks. If so, this is an excellent wine. Perhaps a tad deficient in acidity for my tastes (I'm a huge...

Re: what is meant by stylistic certification
There is a tasting panel at the IVBAM to ensure the blends are stylistically correct. They also test for sugar content, titratable acidity, and volatile acidity. Tinta Negra was upgraded from authorized to noble a few years ago. Now they can put the variety on the label. Boal is indeed Malvasia Fina...

Someone else. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD3VMAm-9iA I'm told with proper training, you don't sacrifice your voice. I'm really impressed on how Youtube is able to generate subtitles from such "music" or noise ahaha. In the same vein as Maiden, there are a lot of alternatives in Europ...

Re: Torre Bella vs Bolger
Bolger is considered a grower. No selo on the bottle. Vineyards in the old Torre Bella estate. There have been wines with a Torre Bella label and stencil. I've a few of the 1865 Sercial. I believe they were bottled by the estate of Russel Gordon some decades ago (by the last Viscountess?) and are di...
