By way of an update, I have reached out to the person I purchased these from to try and get further details. They replied saying they are going to gather as much detail as possible from the family. I will update here once I know more.

Re: 1800 'HP Barradas' Reserva Particular (CVM?) - 2 bottles for sale
Lets think about this logically, and I'm not trying to be rude as I've seen weirder things happen. However, when a handful of bottles that appear all of a sudden in a relatively short time that even some Madeira freaks on here haven't heard about (that have come forward anyhow) there are going to b...

Re: 1800 'HP Barradas' Reserva Particular (CVM?) - 2 bottles for sale
Here's a better question since a few of these have all of a sudden popped up for sale in recent months. Has anyone here ever heard or seen these before? Or does anyone know who on the island did the original bottlings for these and why they all were totally rebottled in what appears to be modern Bo...

Re: 1800 'HP Barradas' Reserva Particular (CVM?) - 2 bottles for sale
I think these two look like they were re-bottled, not just re-corked. I agree, and I think it is the same case with the Christies bottles. The Portuguese words 'reengarrafado em 1996' literally mean 'rebottled in 1996', not 'recorked'. This would explain the relatively modern looking Bordeaux style...

Re: 1800 'HP Barradas' Reserva Particular (CVM?) - 2 bottles for sale
Many thanks Eric and Andy - I wasn't actually aware of that auction lot as it looks like it was quite recent (December 2015). Thanks for drawing my attention to it. I guess that gives me a rough idea of value, albeit a value ceiling as I wouldn't expect to achieve as much as Christies especially wit...

Re: 1800 'HP Barradas' Reserva Particular (CVM?) - 2 bottles for sale
Odd that they seem to have been rebottled into a modern Bordeaux style bottle (which appear to be different shades of green - though could just be the pic), two different types of wax used (one appears black with air bubbles the other brown and smooth) I think that is just my photography and the an...

1800 'HP Barradas' Reserva Particular (CVM?) - 2 bottles for sale
Hi everyone, I am in possession of two bottles of 1800 Madeira, namely 'HP Barradas' Reserva Particular, which I purchased from a Portuguese family who had been holding onto them for a while (they assured me they have been stored upright in a passive cellar and I have no reason to doubt this - the d...

Re: CVM Terrantez 1795
Dear Paul, you have probably read this? http://www.madeirawineguide.com/10madeira_wine_guide/45the_1795_terrantez_vintages/ Best Peter Thanks for this Peter - that makes for fascinating reading. However I still haven't seen another 1795 CVM Terrantez with the same black label as mine - I have only ...

Re: 1842 Terrantez - two bottles for sale
One of these has now been sold but the other is still available. I'll leave it another couple of weeks to see if there is any interest otherwise it will be making its way to auction.

Re: 1842 Terrantez - two bottles for sale
Do they come with the SQN OWC? Haha well if you're genuinely interested then absolutely. That is a (recently, and very unfortunately) empty OWC of Ode To E Syrah / Grenache that is taking up space in my cellar but it seemed too nice to throw out. Also it provided an ideal surface to put the ...

1842 Terrantez - two bottles for sale
Hi everyone, I would like to sell my two bottles of 1842 Terrantez. As the below photos show, they are in decent condition and the fill levels are well into the neck. This is a known bottling which has popped up a few times on the auction market in recent years, but the producer is unknown (although...

Re: CVM Terrantez 1795
Does the lack of responses mean that no one has seen a bottle like this? I've tried and failed to get answers elsewhere so in the words of Princess Leia Organa Solo - "you're my only hope".

CVM Terrantez 1795
Hi, I've recently been fortunate enough to come into possession of a bottle of Companhia Vinicola da Madeira Terrantez 1795. I've attached a few photos of the bottle, which is in remarkably good condition and the fill level is in the lower neck. I am trying to find out more about the bottle and perh...
