Re: Top 3 houses to visit in Gaia?

When I was in the Graham's Lodge in June I managed to taste my way through Graham 1983, Graham 2000, Graham 2007, Warre 1980, Dow 1985 and Vesuvio 1995. The first three being the Vintage Tasting and the last three being the "vintage port of the day". Added to that with lunch I got to drin...

Re: Top 3 houses to visit in Gaia?

Appreciate the detailed responses. I'm more worried about doing a tour and having a ruby/2014 lbv/10yr tawny at the end of it to taste. And like Eric said, avoid any potential tourist traps. Thanks for the tip Al, I'll need to make sure we do the higher end tastings at Grahams (either the vp or tawn...

Top 3 houses to visit in Gaia?

Hey everybody, I'll be traveling to Lisbon and Porto next week and after procrastinating way too long, I'm starting to finally plan the actually events my wife and I will be doing. First off, this whole section and everybody's recommendations to everyone else has been so helpful. I have lists of so ...

Doesn't seem to allow for shipping to the states either.

Couldn't get a quote for canada either, but you can at least pick the country on the list.

Yes, thanks again Roy for putting together such a great event - and I was only able to make it for the Saturday! The kindness of everyone made for such a memorable day. I look forward to meeting everyone again in the future.

Hey Glenn, I can't make the July 23rd casual tasting (which is now filled anyway), but do you guys generally do a group dinner afterwards? If there's room, I would love to join in on that.

I would choose A as well, that sounds like the best option.
And I would say D.

But really, anything would be immensely enjoyable.

Re: possible fake?

To conclude the story (for nowwww), the bottle is fine. I wound up getting connected to Wineworth and Stefano Marello in Bellevue, WA. He took a look at the bottle and pulled up all the information that Christian mentioned above. They were the one that put the order in and the bottling date on the f...

See, that's the genius of it, if it was a 52 Delaforce, you know he wouldn't be able to pass it off.

Re: possible fake?

Thanks for the replies. The whole idea of someone making a fake of this and then selling it to shops is funny, but I keep looking at the label and going, "this looks like I printed this off my home printer". Probably just poor lighting like you said Andy. Man, thanks Roy, I don't mean to b...

possible fake?

So I got this 1981 Burmester Colheita from my wife for xmas. She ordered it from Europa Wine Merchant in Portland, OR. http://www.creightondesign.com/port-1981.jpg A real nice gift, but we're thinking it might possibly be fake. The label is really faded, looks of very poor quality print, it's crocke...

Re: Dec. 2015: Your best Port tasted this year?

A Krohn 30 year Tawny. A wonderfully complex bottle that has gotten me more excitement to try even older ports. Unfortunately I got these from PC for $35 a pop, so I keep looking for these kind of deals. Need to move on.
