Re: How do I run a Port tasting?

I'm not a sommelier. Just a wine enthusiast, specially in Port Wines and I live in Portugal so I have the opportunity to taste a lot of Port Wines. I do not drink by the book rules. I think 12 hours decanting a 2011 vintage is too much. I drank lots of 2011 vintage with just 2-3 hours and looks just...

Re: Which vintage have you invested in 1985 vs. 1983?

I think there are some issues with corks in the Portuguese wines of the 80's . Symington re-cork some 80 and 85 Dow's and also 80, 85 and 2000 Gold Campbell .
For me, 1985 is the best investment.

Re: Should I buy?

2011 was one of the best years in Douro, many saws best since 1963.
For me Taylor's is much better than Fonseca.
Nowadays I do not buy Fonseca for my cellar but I buy a lot of Taylor's.
But you should buy what you love most!

Re: 2015 Vintage Declarations

I'm waiting too for some good Port Wines from 2015. Thomas, any of wine you are talking are really good , in my opinion. I'm waiting to see if Symington or Fladgate will declare some of their best houses. Quinta do Vesuvio is a good one, but Quinta do Vesuvio Capela is the Top. Someone told me few w...

Re: Best hotel in Lisbon?

Hello Christian . I'm from Portugal but not from Lisbon. So I stay many nights in Lisbon, knowing many hotels. Fours Seasons is a great hotel, the most iconic hotel building in Lisbon, but is a classic hotel (not my style). On the other hand Altis Belém is a modern hotel, with the best location over...

Re: buying Warre's 1963

Hi All. I bought (two weeks ago) x2 1963 Warre's and x2 1970 Graham's from a trust source. He told me that bottles have been re-corked , maybe from symington himself (I suppose). Paid 220€ each bottle of Warre's and 175€ each Graham's. It was a good price?
