NV Zacuto Reserve Ruby Port by Oscar Quevedo

I purchased this unique Kosher port in Rockland County, NY at a fine Kosher wine store. We needed a Kosher port to make a ritual food for Passover called Haroset. So my expectations were modest when I opened it, even after noting it was produced by Vinhos Oscar Quevedo. Well, I got a nice surprise. ...

1945 Grahams

This bottle was part of an auction lot that was not in great shape to start with when we got it, probably 6-7 years ago. Capsule was half gone, cork looked dried out, and the level was below neck. It was listed appropriately by the auction house so there was no surprise. I put it in a corner of the ...

Opened in Florida with friends for a birthday celebration. The bottle was purchased at auction. Opened and decanted with cork intact. On opening it showed a reddish brown hue that made me think it might have been a little over the hill. WRONG! At 2 hours the nose was rich and flowery. The big reveal ...

1963 Taylor Port

Decanted for 6 hours and consumed in an hour with dear friends in Florida. Bouquet of dried fruit, blackberry, long lasting. Very nicely put together, strong fruit flavor that is incredible after 60 years. Blackberry and plum flavors. Long satisfying finish. A bit of a chocolate on the finish. Tried...

Opened this bottle to get through a snowy weekend. After a 4 hour decant there was still some harshness in the nose and a pretty strong alcohol taste on entry that overwhelmed the fruit, which had a blackberry tinge to it. The finish was a bit harsh too. It was certainly a pleasant drink but somethi...

We opened this bottle I got at auction 5 years ago for a Valentines Day dinner. Decanted 3.5 hours. It was a beautiful light ruby color with a fade to light pink at the edges. One of our party said it smelled like a beautiful bouquet of flowers. It had an extremely smooth entry with a lovely full ta...

Opened 3 375ml bottles to distance share with our neighbors in lieu of our usual NYE dinner. Decanted 7 hours. All 3 were sound but one had a slightly harsher finish. Neighbor comments were "wonderful" and "really good". I kept the slightly harsh bottle to score and at 7 hours-fr...

1994 Dow VP

Decanted for 6 hours from a 375ml bottle. On Day 1 nose was muted and closed, and the palate wasn't much different. There were nice flavors of cherry, strawberry, and blackberry, with a bit of a bitter aftertaste. Day 1 score was 91. What a difference a day makes (thanks, Dinah Washington)! On Day 2...

NV S. Leonardo 40 Year Old Tawny Port

My first posted tasting note on FTLOP! I opened this from the cellar at just under 60 degrees and poured it right away. Beautiful golden color, nose of honey and a hint of nutmeg, maybe pineapple. Beautifully balanced sweetness and acidity that coats the whole mouth, with a wonderfully long finish. ...

Re: Can I ask for your help, please

I agree with the idea of sharing more about the people we meet on the trip-maybe even a short video? Al the so, perhaps we should share the pleasure of meeting and getting to know the other folks on the road with us. Also, on both my trips, the surprise food stops-the cheese shop in Porto and the ch...
