Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
First off, do we have anyone else from Ohio here? It would be nice to meet some local port lovers and find out best places to buy port. ~Ivan I might visit friends in Columbus or Cleveland in the next few months, can you make a trip for lunch or dinner and a bottle at a BYO place? Let me know if yo...

Glenn, thanks for the explanation. I learned something new today!Glenn E. wrote: So... it's complicated when you're talking about a vintage as a whole. Do you judge the vintage based on the best it produced, or on the overall average across all producers?

Wasn't '85 a better year than '80 and '83?Eric Menchen wrote:That's a hard find in the US, and an excellent VP IMHO. Your mileage and individual bottles may vary.Ivan P wrote:Yesterday he had Warre's VP from 1980...

It says "Single Vineyard" in white letters but "Unfiltered" is written in red.John M. wrote: Is the Noval the Single Quinta version? (If yes usually has red letter saying Single Quinta on label). Either way it has always shown decently or better for me.

2012 Graham's LBV

Re: Buying older vintage port from retail stores
Thanks, everyone! I went back to my local store and talked to the person in charge of bringing in the VP. He told me he gets them from his distributor and usually it's just one-two bottles at a time. I noticed that he had two more vintage ports this time in addition to the last time I visited so it...

Re: Buying older vintage port from retail stores
Thank you, Eric! Wow, that's a very nice list. I wasn't aware of any of those stores. I've noticed that a few of those stores had VP from the 1970s and 1980s for less than $200 a bottle. That is just slightly more than VP that was just released... Is there a reason for that? I thought that port that...

Thank you for your reply. Could you share a few internet sources that you personally trust and had good experience with?

Buying older vintage port from retail stores
Hi all, Is there a general consensus on whether buying older VP from retailers is a good thing or not? Doing a quick search on winesearcher shows that plenty of stores still have vintage ports dating back to early 2000s and in some instances even before that, and at very good prices too. Just this p...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
Hello everyone! New face here! I've been reading a lot on this forum and finally decided to create an account. So glad I'm finally here! I live in central Ohio. My relationship with port started when I was probably 15-16 - I got to try some cheap Ruby if I recall correctly. Since then I was mostly d...
