Moreira

I have several bottles of 1997 Moreira VP in my cellar, so someone was at work under that label 10 years ago; a good local shop here in DC, Schneiders, had a bunch of it, and a variety of Moreira colheita's several years ago. I have not tasted any of the colheitas, but they had the 1997 VP open for ...

Re: 'Old' LBVs in circulation

So that brings my question : why is there so many old, bottle-aged LBVs in circulation, still available for purchasing ? another factor is that at least a couple of shippers, Warres and Smith Woodhouse, I believe, bottle age their 'traditional' LBVs themselves before they release them for sale - Wa...

sounds like the beginnings of a plan. we're on Capitol Hill and would be happy to host as well (though our herd of cats may be an issue for someone with allergies) should that be more convenient. it'd be nice if we could round up a few more folks.

Noval 2000 LBV

With a quick google search I seem to have found it on the website of a shop in Lisbon with the notation "This product was added to our catalog on Monday 12 June, 2006." http://www.garrafeiranacional.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_6&products_id=3521 So perhaps it was just released, i...

why is this on a Port website? (Long)

I haven’t seen this particular film but I have read and watched some of this 9/11 conspiracy stuff and frankly find it doesn’t stand up to the facts. Like most conspiracy theories it proceeds to a complicated conclusion, ignores Occam’s Razor, not to mention contradictory facts, and uses a series of...

Mike, you're right, those two labels are tough to find around here, let alone in half sizes, but if you're in Northern Virginia, Schneider's and Calvert Woodley in DC are definitely worth checking out. both list '97 Niepoort (and the latter also has the '00 Niepoort and Vesuvio both at $49.99 right ...

I got an off-brand Ah-So type cork puller to try it since I wasn't really familiar with them and have been using it a lot (the fancy Monopol one is now on my Xmas list), but last weekend when I was inserting it around the cork of a port bottle it snapped a big chip out of the neck, about halfway dow...

I haven't run across the Yaluma 50 year yet, but if the $16 Yalumba port was the 375ml Antique Tawny Museum Release, I have been through a few bottles and enjoyed them quite a bit, as have all who've shared them with me. According to Yalumba's website, which gives a lot of detail on it, it's a blend...
