1994 Dow quinta do Bomfim

I saw a ad for a 1994 Dow Quinta do Bomfim? I was under the impression that the SQVP
were only produced in non declared years.

Re: Do you have any Port to sell?

I have 6 bottles of 2000 Taylor VVV. I would consider trading 4 of the bottles for 1994 Taylor,
Quinta Vesuvio, or Fonseca. The exact deal depends on producer.

Re: Depressed Cork

Thanks for your humourous comments. I saw a bottle of 1994 Niepoort listed for $49. It had a comment that the cork was depressed. I was worried about the quality of the bottle. However, at the price I will buy it since I love the producer. Perhaps by opening the bottle and freeing the cork will chan...

Depressed Cork

I have seen discussions on raised corks and the implications on the quality of the port. However, I do not recall any discussion of depressed corks. What are the causes and what indications does it gve to the quality of the bottle.

Re: Port "deals" and "steals"

6 bottles of the 2000 Taylor Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha for $360 USD. I do not know what the merchant was thinking.

1995 Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage Port

Opened with good floral and fruit aromas. Served after 7 hours. Dark opaque purple with a garnet edge. Quite sweet with medium to full body. Great strawberry and raspberry flavors. Quite a bit of distracting heat. Tannins come in on the long finish. Lacks some complexity. After 30 hours. Alcohol blo...

Re: #23: What is your favorite vintage of Delaforce Vintage Port

In Chicago one can find quite a bit of the younger vintages at good prices $35-$40 USD. I have only tried the 1995,1997,2000 and 2003 vintages. My favorite is the 1997. Very good fruit, good length.
Not the 95 points that Suckling rated it but probably 93pts.

Thanks for the information. As long as the fill level is fine I will bid on
slight seepage bottles.

Bottle conditions-- What is important?

I have seen some excellent VP for sale recently with some bottle conditions. My questions is how much value do I pay to these. Does a slightly raised cork matter? I have bought bottles of VP stated to have very slight signs of seepage and been unable to see any. It also seems that there is no or lit...

Genentlemen, I recently had the 94 Martinez and found it to be stunning even though I normally prefer more powerful Ports. I found it much better than the 94 Warre I had several months ago. I normally drink younger ports (due to relative cost and availablity in Chicago). What kind of improvements wi...

Thanks for the information. The tasting note was originally posted because a local reputable merchant advertised a 2000 Quinta De Vargellas for $60. After reading your posts that no Vargellas was produced in 2000 I assumed the regular bottling of Taylor was for sale and I stopped by the merchant. Th...

TNR- 2000 Taylor Quinta De Vargellas

Did Taylor produce a 2000 Quinta De Vargellas in a regular bottling?
That is in addition to their Vinha Velha. Has anyone tasted it?

I have only tasted 5 to 10 ports from 1997 to 2004, however, I found the 1997 Taylor to be the best.
