Drinking window of SQVP
There is a lot of info here about drinking window and expected peak of top VPs, but what about the SQVP? Specifically those released in non-vintage years by top producers, such as Bomfim, Vargellas, Malvedos, Fonseca Guimaraens (even if not technically SQVP)... I see the Symmington brands tend to re...

Re: For those NEW to Port collecting and consumption ...
I can't speak to the quality of the auction houses in mainland Europe, but I do know there's an auction house based in Paris by the name of Ideal Wine (idealwine.com/en). A good advice indeed! I have been religiously scanning idealwine for some months now, with a few nice finds. Not later than this...

Re: For those NEW to Port collecting and consumption ...
In France, I've always been exposed to the supermarket ports (Cruz is everywhere). They have a strong reputation of good dirt-cheap aperitif wines, a lot of people will have one bottle casually opened for months and months. So not the best intro to port ever :D Occasional encounters with nice tawnie...

Welcome Clément! There are not many (maybe none) members of FTLOP in France but you’re not too far from London where there is a very active group of Port lovers who get together once or twice per month to share their favourite wine over dinner. So close yet so far! Add to this the choice (and price...

Re: Rich & Sons LBV 1983: looking for informations
Would it normaly be the same wine/quality as the Ramos Pinto LBV of the same year? I'm not really familiar with the BOB practicises of port houses...Andy Velebil wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 2:27 pm Would have been released in the mid 1990’s.
Probably some excess stock that needed a home and they got a good deal for a BOB.

Good catch, thanks ! I've emailed them for more infoEric Menchen wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 11:57 pm The address listed on that bottle is for Adriano Ramos Pinto. Their address is listed as 380, but their name is printed on the roof of the building at 400 as well.

Rich & Sons LBV 1983: looking for informations
Hello !
Just found this bottle at my local wine store, hiding in the bottom shelf. 1983 Rich & Sons LBV, bottled by J. Carvalho Macedo. Never heard of either, is it a defunct producer / merchant ?
Not tasted yet, wine seems really tawny in color, with visible sediment.

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
Hi Port Lovers ! I'm Clément, from Paris, France. Quite new to the world of port, I've discovered it's wonders in 2021, visiting Porto and the Douro region. First introduction to the world of vintage was through some fruit bomb SQVP at Quinta do Bomfim, and I've been starting a little collection of ...
