I'll share my experience in clearing bottles through Canadian Customs. Frederick is really correct when he says that you need to be nice to the agents. Last year in February I was invited to host a Port dinner in Toronto by my good friend Luiz Conceição. As I had no chance of finding all the Romariz...

Yes, Kosher Port exists. I know that at least Taylor's has done it in the Past. Probably other companies will have done it as well.

Check out this article. It's what I found on the subject.

Marco,

The Fladgate Partnership does make Colheita, not with Taylor's or Fonseca, but with Romariz and Delaforce.

Again I must insist: Please do not judge some companies' actions as the way the things are done in the Port Trade. I work for a group of Port companies, which my good friend Gustavo knows very well, where Vintage Ports DO NOT spend the two years prior to bottling in stainless steel vats. Moreover, A...

A little insight on white Ports: They can be Dry, Medium Dry or Extra Sweet (Lagrima). White Port is very big in some countries like France and England. Extra Dry Ports are excellent aperitives simple or mixed with tonic, lemon and some ice (in this case, it's called a Portonic - the only official P...

Sorry Jason, but I must disagree with you. The Port trade is still full of tradition and honor. You must not take the actions of few as the way the whole sector operates. It surprises me that such commentaries are made in a place that is dedicated to honoring Port and not criticizing it. In legal te...

Erik,

I'm not 100% sure, but I think this brand might be associated to Ramos Pinto. This association comes from the name João Nicolau de Almeida, who is the chief winemaker of the Ramos Pinto house. Then again, I might wrong.

Let us know what you find out.

João,

Send me your address to stefano.marello@romariz.pt and I'll send you a couple of invitations if you want. We have quite a few and probably will not use all of them.

Cheers

VINEXPO 2007

Dear all, The time has come for Vinexpo once again. I think all wine lovers look forward to this event, despite the scorching heat and the ridiculously high prices they have in Bordeaux during the fair. It is still a great place to keep in touch with all things wine. I will be at the small but proud...

Ronald, It will not be a staged environment, as the warehouses will continue to have barrels and vats with Port ageing inside, as they have untill now. What will change is that the vast majority of stocks, which most people don't get to see anyway, will be moved out to the Douro. For the visitors no...

Portwine.com (and others) for sale

I have a friend in Canada that is the owner of several internet domains, such as portwine.com, portwineclub.com, Iloveport.com. He is now interested in selling these domains to the best offer (wether it's from a Port company or any other "fortified wine" region in the world. Vodka.com was ...

Just in case any of the FTLOP members is attending. I will be at the Romariz stand (Part of the IVDP generic stand) for the whole Fair. Everyone is invited to come taste our wines and have a chat about "all things Port".

Dear Alex,

Croft declared classic Vintages in 1950, 54, 55 and 58. No single Quinta Vintages from Croft (Quinta da Roeda) were declared in the 50's.

Is there any information on the caspule?

Cheers
