40 Year Old Kopke Tawny Port.
Finally obtained a bottle of the 2008 DR Colheita to write about. I've had it on tour once and possibly once at Glenn's home too. But I need fresh notes from a few days of observation and pleasurably tasting.

Re: Tappit Hen vs. Tregnum

Eric Ifune wrote the following two posts: The other thing to remember is that they may have topped up with the same wine. Again, there were two and a half pipes when we visited. I'm undecided what to think. I believe Mr. Carneiro, but he's not 100% sure. They did keep many wines in demijohns for top...

Re: Foot Treading Suspended in the Douro
During Covid, Quinta do Vesuvio did not have people to tread in either 2020 or in 2021. This was the first time since Vesuvio began foot treading that they had missed a single harvest of using their lagares. I know folks that did, in both years for sure. More did in 2020 than 2021. How they got away...

That is only true if you already have stocks of Port with at least 75,000 liters or you do not get the rights to open your company at all. But to a different point: Roy wrote: So have you seen any newborn LBV bottling that can show or fool one into believing that it is a 10 Year Old TWAIOA? Yeah, me...

Re: Do you drink Port by itself or with some Stilton cheese or nuts?
Andy is 100% correct. Drink your Port and then eat the dessert after you have had a chance to either get a clean impression, write a tasting note and appreciate everything about the Port. If a Vintage Port you lose the ability to detect some flavors, the acidity is affected and tannins can be dumbed...

Re: Don't shoot the messenger ... Vintage Port offer
I remember the regular bottling being sold at $29 for about four years from 1992-1996 when I first started buying them by 6 packs. I've opened a couple in magnum and still have a few left. Last one's I bought were out of Vancouver Canada about 2016 and the price was still very moderate, but that was...

Start another thread Dr. Ifune.
But it really doesn't matter if you don't. I hope you had a most amazing time in Japan recently.
How many boy bands did you see in total whilst there?

The 2023 Growing Season in Douro
A friend of mine here in PT writes up these great reviews on the growing season each year. Here is his report, as appeared on his terrific website: Port-to-Port-Wine ... https://porttoportwine.blogspot.com/2023/11/douro-2023-general-harvest-report.html?m=1&fbclid=IwAR3aizzaWQ8WXrTjnQ5FSYpGqpu_b1...

Newsletter #116 and the DR PORT Buying opPORTunity
I would like to wish everyone a belated Happy New Years and a HEALTHY one at that! The New Year's Eve release of the newsletter took its toll on me, but I was very happy with how it turned out. It was wonderful to be able to include so many different facets, in terms of a pair of excellent guest art...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
I like the 1974 Carnation bottle, enough to grab a case, at only 75 Euros per bottle it was impossible to say no. I have only opened one, for a Captain of the Army who was in charge of the regiment here in Porto at the time of the Carnation Revolution,as he later was promoted to a Colonel towards th...

Thanks Mark L. It will be great to see you and the others that have already replied here. If we are choosing between the Friday or Sunday, I would definitely opt for Sunday, as those of us coming to LA for the other Port event, want to go to that with a clear head and palate if possible. I am also t...

Madeira in Magnums - Pro or Con?
In the past decade, as happened with Ports too, large format bottles of Madeira were approved for sale for the very first time. The first I ever saw and quickly owned was a 1920 Blandy's Boal in magnum. Those seemed to disappear pretty quickly from the market place and between what is already in bot...

New releases
There are at least a handful of new releases by Ricardo at Barbeito that I am hoping to try a couple of times this year, during 3 trips to the island in 2023. Has anyone purchased any of these yet? I also noticed there is now a new bottling of 1975 Blandy's Terrantez that I am sure to be trying soon...

Re: What Madeira(s) Have You Purchased Recently?
I purchased four bottles together, only one of which I have opened so far. Here is the whole grouping. 1968 Blandy's Verdelho 1971 Cossart Gordon Sercial 1960 Miles Boal n/v ABSL "Porto Santo" Verdelho - which I opened a few weeks ago after dinner one night during the recent Four Regions T...

Re: TN: 1907 Blandys Bual
I have always been a fan and while I agree, the 1920 version is the better of the two and I've had it quite a few more times than this ... the 1907 is no slouch!
