Thanks Eric, never tried it. Based on Roy's tasting notes, a small purchase may be in order. :yumyum:

I am aware of services provided by CellarSensor and cellarPod (Apex). However the equipment is expensive, and they perform monitoring services for a monthl...

Re: Port with spicy food?

Roy, I agree with you on pairing German riesling with Asian food. Though if it is very spicy, I prefer a young kabinett or spatlese, as opposed to a well aged riesling, which will generally be more subtle and complex, and potentially be overpowered by the heat. And a young auslese is typically too r...

Re: Do you belong to a Port or wine tasting group?

I hope to join Andy for Pizza and Port very soon. :drunk: In addition, I am in a group of people that gets together for wine and dinner once a month at a nice LA area restaurant. Each member takes a turn hosting. The host selects the restaurant, and brings all the wine for everybody. In many cases t...

For an interesting book on the topic, check out "The Billionaire's Vinegar: The Mystery of the World's Most Expensive Bottle of Wine". Not very flattering for Michael Broadbent or Christie's, I'm afraid.

Re: Killer Madeira Tasting Event by Rare Wine Co June 7

My first big Madeira tasting, and I thought it was fantastic. :D I am looking forward to many more. Nice to meet Marco and Eric in the flesh, not to mention Mannie and Barry from Rare Wine Co. My 3 favorites were the 1881 Terrantez, 1845 Quinta la Paz, and 1868 EBH very old Boal. :yumyum: The most d...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself

Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself as I have recently become a member. I have been aware of the site for a couple of years, but for some reason just got around to joining. As far as fortified wines go, my main interest is Madeira, though I have had some enjoyable vintage and tawny Por...
