Re: Seattle-area Port tasting

Hi Roy, I would have worked a way to be there by bundling it with a visit to a customer I have in Bellevue but I just noticed the event is in on a monday, which means from where I am I would need to travel on Sunday... that is just too hard to sell to my loved ones... when my job already takes plent...

Re: What is the oldest LBV you've seen?

Nice to have industry folks come in and set the record straight or give us a practial perspective not to mention great anecdotes. I attend other forums on completely different subject (HIFI audio) and only some are graced with current or retired industry folks and it makes a difference. Kudos for Ro...

Re: What is the oldest LBV you've seen?

yet many people still believe Taylor invented LBV with the 1965 LBV bottled in 69. I guess the english words "late bottled vintage" were used before but perhaps the definition as it stands today with IVDP is probably base on this taylor bottle. Perhaps the older examples above all have dif...

Hopefully my SPAM eater didn't get to it before I did..

Re: 2010 World Cup

So 1-0 for Portugal... first part of the mission is accomplished. A boring game, mainly Hungary was not interested in winning and didn't play to win. 2-0 would have been better for goal differential but heck a win and the 3 points that come with it is what was needed. Next game is Oct 10th. against ...

Re: What are you drinking this weekend?

Quinta do Noval 2001 LBV unflitered opened yesterday... wife needed some port for a recipe... I'm a little low on expendable bottles these days (wine and port) been drinking without buying more to stock up the cellar for months so running out of expendable ones.....oldish unfiltered LBVs are best ke...

Re: Vintage Chart

Some thoughts after reading the thread: Paul_B., what ever happened to that Excel list? If it exists, maybe it could be provided as a download with instructions to PM you, or whoever is prepared to take on the maintenance, with additions or corrections. This sounds like an appropriate project for F...

dominated the first half with 15 shoots on net and couldn't score a goal, then dissappeared for most of the second and reappeared near the end... so now it is a really hard (but not impossible) job of finishing second in the group AND having enough goal differential... far from given...also hoping t...

Re: crazy birthday idea

I feel for you guys, 1973 is indeed a year with few options... Noval LBV Taylor Crusted Casa Santa Eufemia Old White Reserve Real Companhia Velha Colheita Real Vinicola Colheita Perhaps you can "cheat" and include ports that were BOTTLED in 1973 which would increase the number by including...

Re: crazy birthday idea

Moses, you are right there is a Kopke 67 Vintage but it was bottled in 1997! a "vintage tawny" Atleast that is what I read in Michael Broadbent's vintage wine book. I just found a reference to the Rozes 67 Vintage and Offley 67 Vintage... a chart published by AEVP so I will update the list...

Re: crazy birthday idea

several of these are in the UK according to wine searcher... Could have been worse, atleast it isn't a year where each bottle will require a bank loan... or a year that only has a handful of options... like hen's teeth. If I can get to enjoy 1 per year for say the next few years I will be satisfied....

crazy birthday idea

Hi all, well I've spent lots of google time to compile the list of Ports for my birthyear 1967. Now that I have what I think is fairly complete list. I've decided on a life long project to drink them and then scratch them off my list as I go.... some are downright impossible to find except at the ce...

Re: Is scarcity/rarity a factor in your purchasing decisions?

Interesting Question, If I look at my bar, the non-Port stuff like Rum, Scotch, Aguardente, Vodka etc... is all very rare and unique bottles, extremely hard to purchase locally if at all possible. I sniff them out in my travels and have great pride to offer them to my guests. (maybe a little show-of...

Re: Port in Stockholm

I'll try to post a picture of that box set... wish more Colheita came this way... it is really easy to do verticals which I could not otherwise do with full bottles without all participants chipping in... Plus if you like a given year then you can go after the full bottle... like the Noval 1974 Colh...

Re: Port in Stockholm

Hi, I agree with you... I've been to stockholm for business many times and I always find something worth bringing back. My most recent was a Graham 40 at much cheaper than I could get here. But my proudest purchase was a lovely set of 5 Noval colheitas 64,71,74,76,84 in 200 ml bottles in a wooden bo...
