Re: Do you own any Ports that you consider too valuable to drink?

One can always figure out how to come up with more money to buy a special port I Think I understand Roys question about "the" speciel bottle, You just find to difficult to open. Most of You has read the great Book on Port from Henrik Oldenburg. I brought the book To my dying friend (the w...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Ramos-Pinto (1 Pinto) old Tawny. Maby +40 years old.

A little on the sweet side, and not the longest aftertaste, But what Can You expect. The Tawny was an ordinary Tawny, not made to store, But to drink.

Re: How long has it been since you've ordered Port in a restaurant?

Hi Andy I am not used to describe tastes in port. But Maby it was a mistake to open the 1920 next to the Cockburns. I have had the Cockburns a couple of times, and that is a certain and for sure a good vine. And if the second bottle had stayed in the Wine fridge. I am sure, that I would have Describ...

Re: Do you own any Ports that you consider too valuable to drink?

I Fully understand the question. Whenever I buy a bottle of vinho do porto for more than lets say 300$, my girlfriend asks me, when do You open that bottle? I have 2 bottles from 1927, and whenever we have good friends over for dinner, the same 2 bottles still sits in the winefridge after there visi...

Re:

Dirk's father Rolf (still alive) and his grandfather made some incredible vintage Ports and between 1912 and 1952, just might have been the true glory years for the house until Dirk came along. Of course unknown Niepoorts that came inbetween like the 1959, but also more popular 1963/1970 vintages w...

Re: How long has it been since you've ordered Port in a restaurant?

I ordered a Borges vintage from 2005, at a very fancy restaurant north of Copenhagen, dull, dull and absolutely utterly dull. The bottle was half full, and could have been Opend for many weeks. I told the waitor, that the Port was a no go, and That I looked forward to the weekend (I had already plac...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself

Hello fans of Vinho do Porto. Andy already bid me welcome in the tread with the "Best Colheitas". And thanks for that! I am a very fortunate friend of an old Danish vinemerchant who sadly passed away last year.(94 years of age). The Merchant was the sole Danish Importer of Niepoort Portwin...
