Re: Aged Tawny, Year or Years?
(also not forgetting other options which allow the above ordering to be broken, e.g. "Port, 10 years old, Tawny" etc)

Re: Aged Tawny, Year or Years?
It's usually a "Tawny, 10 years old" or "10 year old Tawny", i.e. The choice depends whether the word Tawny comes before or after the age. Of course, potentially someone from marketing then gets involved without sufficiently explicit instruction and in designing the label everyth...

And the announcement is indeed made:

Gorgeous looking, will be very interesting to see how this compares to the previous 1863 and Scion (1855) releases.

Re: 1896 Taylor's Single Harvest Tawny is coming
TFP have been trailing an announcement for something special to be announced tomorrow, perhaps it might be a 1971 Colheita, or this, or both?

Re: Unknown 1948 vintage Glasgow
In addition to Glenn's words of caution, I would add another - both the previous posts have provided some estimates for bottles of Taylor 1948 in excellent condition - however, we do not know the condition of the original poster's bottle, and indeed we don't know it is Taylors - this is my best gues...

Re: Unknown 1948 vintage Glasgow
Hi Ed - for bottles as old as this, the way they have been stored and their current condition will hugely affect the likely value. In general, you're wanting to look at the level of the wine within the bottle, the colour of the wine, as well as the condition of the cork/capsule and label. Then based...

Re: Unknown 1948 vintage Glasgow
Hi Ed, This looks to be a bottling of 1948 vintage port by "D. Sandeman & Son Ltd" of Glasgow (David Sandeman and Son) - not, bottling by them. The only port I'm aware of them bottling in '48 was Taylor, although there could have been others. In at least '27, '31, and '48 their capsule...

Re: Two 1970 Graham’s Vintage Ports
There is no selo on top, isn't that strange? Not necessarily; selos are only present on bottles which are bottled in Portugal. 1970 was the last vintage before the rules were brought in that mandated bottling in Portugal, but before that bottles which were bottled outside Portugal (most commonly in...

Re: Buying opportunity
1992: I would take the Fonseca as best of the year. Over the Taylor's? I have had both and the F92 is great, but for me the Taylor's is on another level. For me, yes, I would take the Fonseca over the Taylor - but I would accept that my general preference for Fonseca's flavour profile is an influen...

Re: Buying opportunity
That's a lovely problem to have! I guess what makes the most sense for you to buy might also depend on what you already have, as well as what age you prefer to drink, as well as how many bottles of each are on offer; but putting all of that to one side I guess the most helpful thing we can do is to ...

Re: 1977 Warre vintage port
That's a shame to hear. While W77 does sometimes seem to have a little more variation between bottles than some of it's peers, it's usually a very enjoyable port and I would not expect the colour or taste to be anything like that which you describe; this sounds like a very poor bottle which has seen...

Agree; label looks genuine, capsule also; slightly low fill (top-shoulder) is the only concern, but colour looks nice and dark, so fingers crossed this shows well for you.

Re: What have you opened this week?
For that matter, I can not recall ever seeing a cork that showed a bottling date of 2 years from harvest. I don't think I've ever seen a bottling date on a cork. I think is much more common than Eric and Roy suggest; it doesn't even strike me as unusual when I see it - perhaps 20%? This might someh...

Re: What Is The Lowest Scoring Port In Your Cellar?
Lowest scoring by professional/critics I don't know, but I do know my own lowest-scoring port which was not faulty that I have tasted, and I have two more of in my cellar, and that would be Cruz 1989 vintage port. I purchased three bottles in a french supermarket several years ago at around 12 euros...
