Re: 2016 Vintage Declarations

For me it is waiting for news from Taylor's & Fonseca. If they don't declare, I think we can't speak of a general declared year. Do you guys agree? I do not agree... 2 players should not dictate what is a general declaration or not... but it is definitively what they want us to believe. I am no...

Re: Graham's Colheita??

Your wishes might have been answered! Today leaving Porto, the airport shop was offering a Graham's 2003 Colheita, First Flight. The name suggest it might only be available in airports for now. I was told last month that Graham's would release Colheita for young tawny while keeping the Single Harve...

Re: 2016 Vintage Declarations

Today i got the first prices for a 2016 Vintage Port. It is the Kopke 2016 Vintage Port. We will be selling at €44,95 enprimeur.
I tasted the 2016 vintage port (cask sample) @ Prowein, it confirmed me again that Kopke keeps on improving with there vintage ports.

Re: 2016 Vintage Declarations

Quinta do Noval Same procedure as last year, one almost feel like saying. Quinta do Noval has gone back to back with VP declarations since 2011? That is 6 years in a row. That begs the question; Is that too many in a row? I don't know but would be curious to hear others opinions (I'll post a new to...

Re: 2017 and the harvest

As a spin off for the 2015 vs. 2016 thread, curious as to what people have heard about 2017? I've heard the super early harvest was not a good thing in general. Issues with phenological ripeness. Has anyone heard anything else, Good, bad, or otherwise? I was at Niepoort during at the end of the har...

Re: 2017 Harvest report

The 2017 harvest was the earliest on record, but that is not news. Most finished harvesting even their Port grapes, prior to the end of September. There are very few exceptions, but some do exist. While yields are down, additionally there were a good amount of raisins on vines in all 3 sub-regions ...

Re: 1987 Niepoort Garrafeira

So do you know if there are plans to bottle this for sale, and if so, how much? Based on some dark rumours from the inner circle of the Danish port wine scene, which has relations to Dirk Niepoort, the 1987 will be released in 2022. Some also claim that the 1983 may see light of day before the 1987...

1987 Niepoort Garrafeira

Tasted it at the old Niepoort cellar, in Vila Nova de Gaia, not yet released for the market (yet). It came straight out of the demijohn If a vintage port is a Bordeaux wine, than a Garrafeira port is a Burgundy wine. With this port I couldn’t be more the case. Because it came straight out the bottle...
