Re: Fonseca 1977-Bottle Stink

Roy:

Only had that wine twice-I didn't think it was corked(nothing like any corked wine I've

had) But the worst two ports ever. I still find a discription hard to relate -totally undrinkable.

1977 Fonseca Vintage Port -- Bottle Stink

First time for Bottle Stink in a Port-A common thing for 1960's Bordeaux. Unless a old guy most of you may not know BS(bottle stink). It is hard to tell BS from Corked at first. BS blow off over time corked doesn't. Opened a Fonseca 77 was off so opened a Warres 77(was very nice). After 2 days tried...

Re: taylor 1983-TN

Tonite another great 83 T-two in a row=same batch.

I think most people under value the Taylor 1980,1983 and 1985.

1983 Taylor's Vintage Port

Nose: nice

Body: full

Taste: young-big time-tannic

Aftertaste: nice-long lasting

18-/20

P.S. One of the best 83 T's-young like 15 years ago-recent Calf. purchase.

Re: Lets talk about corked Ports

I have been very lucky also-never had a corked bottle of VP that I bought. Have tried

Cockburn 1983 twice both undrinkable.

Re: Your thoughts and comments about 1985 Vintage Ports

Must admit that we had a tasting of the top 8 wines upon release and I was not a fan-

only thought Fonseca and Taylor were just OK-didn't buy the vintage then. Over time

had the Warre a few time just so-so-but became a fan of Taylor and in the last few

years Fonseca.

Re: TN: Barbeito 1929 Verdelho

A very good wine but was best the first day with no airing(IMO). It was not as good

the second day-after I used it as a wine tasting dessert(had it 3 times). I want

Madeira's that I can drink over an extended period of time.

Re: TN: 1978 Barbeito Sercial Vintage Madeira

My only taste of this wine was similar to Roy's 07 view. Maybe I should try a newer

bottled version.
