Opened a 1942 Barbeito Malvazia in late Oct. my second and last a fantastic wine. Why are there so few.(I know just sad).

In the very early 70's 1941 VM was selling for $40 in NY.

In the same time period I got a (not in my records) 1903? Solera for $7 a so-so wine.

This in my records from the 70's Leacock Sercial Solera 1860 a great wine for $5.99.

IMO the price rise is a more recent thing.

Tried 5/23/15 btl 2005-This may be different from a older btl-as not being better on an old bottling but?

Nose:thin-light tar- odd nose

Body: very full

Taste: tar-intense-WOW

Aftertaste: some

18+/20

Not the best of the 22's group.

I've been drinking them for 40 years-how many ??? 75-100-150 ??? very hard to tell.

Most have been tannic even now. but now some have been completely mature.

I'm a sucker for this wine at mature I just turn the glass and reflect. this is great sh--.

1963 vs 1970

This may not be new from me but:

For 40 years I thought 63 was better than 70. But in the last few years my 63's can be great the first

day but after decline. On the other hand 70's can last for several days at a high level.

What are others opinions?

Wax so old couldn't read. But level 3/8 " cork to wine-unreal for 52 years.

Nose: very little

Body: deep

Taste:very deep-tannic-long

Aftertaste: very good
